Could cover the loss of philogene, Nunez and Akpom and still go away to Sheffield United and get a win. Yet that is exactly what we will do on Saturday afternoon

Not if the player who got the knock in training is Matusiwa .

Who else do Philogene, Nunez and Akpom play for?
I had no idea that you could play for 2 clubs at the same time.

Might do, but no Nunez is a big los.

If the mystery injury is to Matusiwa, I’d take a draw without getting on the bus.

I do feel nunez is our biggest miss.

No one else comes close to his passing range.

Maybe wait to see the full extent of the injuries or weekend result first, nothing like tempting fate.

I've not heard of this knock , but if it is Matusiwa, that is pushing it a bit , I must admit.

It's not going to be a walk in the park. Sheffield United have a top 6 squad on paper and have improved under Wilder. We're missing a few in key areas which will make life harder. That said, we're on good form and have had an extra day's rest. A long midweek trip for them too. I certainly think we can win but it's miles away from being a fixture where we should expect to rock up and take the 3 points easily.

I worry that we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves. Not a jib at you Muccers, and I love your confidence, but surely it;s better to wait to see what happens tomorrow before we make statements like this, eh? If we win, super - your confidence is justified, but if we lose then posts like this don't age well!

Each to their own i guess!

Muccers has spent most of the season (up until the last few weeks) writing us off. Now he thinks we'll win every game. It's easy to see the direct correlation between sense of entitlement and propensity to very quickly turn and be overly negative.

Yep I'm a bit concerned we will see how much we rely on Nunez this weekend.

Hope I'm wrong, but I'm very eager to sign some cover for him

We have a squad that means we can put out a comparably strong first 11. We're just moving into territory however where one of our core strengths will be diminished i.e. the strength off the bench and the energy last 20 mins.

Still very strong of course. Likely 5 coming on will be:

Egeli
Mcateer or Burns (depending who starts)
Azon
Young (we really need him stepping up at LW - gives great experience but can he give us the legs)
Cajuste

I think that's where we are at the end of the day their big misses from the 11 or the squad a shame as we were purring,
A point would be a good point united have some very good players and a half decent squad,

I think this is a fascinating game to predict. They have had a massive upsurge in form since Wilder returned (though not the last 6) and we have been unstoppable recently. By rights we should win, but with the injuries ... hmmm, I'm not quite so confident. It feels like a real test to me and will show just where we are. Win and I'll join those who are now really confident of a top two finish; draw or lose - won't be the end of the world, but will show we are fallible after all.

It's interesting that Boro and Cov continue to grind out results, and may stay the course - like Plymouth annoyingly did in Lg 1. Personally I think we could well get top 2, but if it;s playoffs I'm confident we can win a one off game.

If it is we'll see Cajuste and Taylor in the middle who have both been brilliant. We'll be fine.

Their last 6 home games they've won 4 and drawn 2. It's not going to be an easy one by any stretch. A win here would be very good, I'd go so far as to say a bit of a statement, especially with the injuries.

They have been brilliant but both are forward looking players. We'd lack a defensive balance.

We'll have to see what the team at 1:45pm is but we are light for this one and I'm not as optimistic as the OP. We've a week before the next one though so just need to get through this.

Nunez may have become almost as irreplaceable as Matusiwa and we will see if that's the case tomorrow. As others have said, if the latter is also out it will be a big, big test. Especially for Taylor and Jens.

We may be a bit disjointed and the Blades could punish that. May need the Footballing Gods to shine on us.

Think this might be a game where we need a set piece or two to win the game.

Sheffield United are a tough nut under Wilder. Inevitably took him a few weeks to pull that rabble he inherited together, but they're unbeaten in their last 6 at home, since 1st November, and only conceded 2 goals. That includes a 3-1 win against Leicester, 3-0 against Birmingham (who don't travel well, admittedly), 4-0 vs. Stoke, 3-0 vs Pompey.

Of our remaining games I'd say this ranks in the top 3 in terms of difficulty, not made any easier by the few absentees. They've got a couple themselves. Will be interesting, I wouldn't take a point now because why would we in this form and with 3 points at stake, but if that's the outcome its a workable result.

I mean this politely but Ashley Young isn't the answer. I'm not even sure of the question, but he's not the answer.

Walton
Furlong O'Shea Kipre Davis
Matusiwa Taylor
McAteer Szmodics Clarke
Hirst

We need to be up for the scrap, I'd go with the exuberance of McAteer, Szmodics & Taylor on this occasion.
