Seems like it is bad news whichever way you look - Ukraine, Iran, Palestine, USA and loads more that don't dominate the news cycle in the same way.
I think I'm possibly even more depressed by the direction of travel in this country too - seems loads would love the influence of people like Trump and Musk to be more prominent here. The idea of a Reform government genuinely horrifies me.

Reform is down from high of 30% in mid 2025 to 26% presently.

I've been a news junkie for as long as I can remember but as I am not on social media (apart from TWTD), I do feel I am in control.
I have also for as long as I can remember listened to the World Service on a daily basis, and find it is well worth listening to to take a wider and more balanced view of what is going. Indeed, I normally go to sleep listening to Newshour (having wound it back to the beginning on BBC Sounds) and wake up to either Weekend or Newsday.
The other thing to say is that there is, and always has been, a lot of suffering in the world but it isn't realistic or healthy, for example, to go into mourning for, maybe, thousands who might die in an earthquake. [Post edited 25 Jan 13:00]

To be honest, I hardly ever watch or listen to the news these days.
I don't think I have watched the news on tv in full for years now.
I know wars are currently taking place etc but I couldn't tell you much about them.
