| Are some people like this in their home lives too? 12:55 - Jan 25 with 1224 views | Axeldalai_lama | Or is it just the football? Tootling along nicely, been on a few months of amazing dates with the missus, calm home life, kids doing fine at school all the rest of it, and then little Timmy gets a poor grade after weeks of good ones or the missus cancels a date night and suddenly it's indicative of huge problems and you need to change Timmy's school and think about divorcing the wife? Maybe a bit extreme but perspective seems very limited in some. Or is it that football is some peoples only way of releasing emotions that aren't necessarily about the football? | | | | |
| Are some people like this in their home lives too? on 13:29 - Jan 25 with 1087 views | FrimleyBlue | Interesting way of looking at it I guess you could imagine timmy is in high school and hes on a grade A for English but he needs a B in maths to get the college course that he wants. English he thrives at but maths hasn't been good for him and at present its the one thing that pitnetially could stop him from getting the place he seeks. You'd hope timmy could sort out his math grades and you see a tutor come in to try and improve his maths results so time will tell if it works. | |

Yeah, this makes sense. I suppose that's why there are inevitable clashes. One group cutting through to logic and calm, another wanting to vent and be emotional. Such is life I guess.

It's not just football either. The world is full of the bit in the middle. I have long discussions with my partner's eldest son who always wants a black and white answer and is unwilling to consider the world isn't built that way.

But I think the over reacting is really unhelpful and doesn't work as a release. That doesn't make it easy. I'm pretty calm but I do get really pissed off and annoyed with a bad result and has the potential to 'ruin' the weekend but I've got pretty good now at just staying calm and just accepting it. The problem is we do blow out of proportion a performance. "Unacceptable", "shocking". It's a 46 game season and we will have off days or just come up against a good team who have an on day at home or a combination. I think we all need to embrace our inner McKenna. Stay calm. Not to up or too down. We move on and we win the next one. Sounds so easy haha

Can we have a separate section on here where you can just read Frimmers posts. As he has an opinion on absolutely everything, it would probably be busier than the General section.

Absolutely this. Across all aspects of life and its painful to observe if you actually sit in the middle ground. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Completely agree. Especially with the new trend of mocking anyone who a balanced take on anything.

Good overview. Although I think what we've seen is Timmy being told 'you're a disgrace Timmy you've been sent to school and you're a failure' and/or 'Timmy we've paid £100k over the last 10 years on food, drink, lego, books etc, we're entitled to expect perfection in school results. You have one more chance to get 100% in your next exam if not your out and we will adopt a new child'

I think maybe I'm a bit odd - I love ITFC, but 95% of the time I don't give a sh1t if we lose and hardly ever get down when we do (except when a certain team 43 miles northwards beat us).

You can be a prick, swear, shout, write abuse and moan and all care free. Same at football. Shout abuse etc etc. it’s reflected across society. The age of the internet and social media has a lot to answer for

| Are some people like this in their home lives too? on 13:46 - Jan 26 with 289 views | TheBoyBlue | You'd hope that it is just an escape valve, but I've found that as I've got older that I've become more measured. Seen so much in football generally (as well as with Ipswich) that I know that any one defeat is just that. You get losses, you get performances, you get players that can infuriate you in the moment, but it is all but a small part of the overall picture. It also helps that social media regularly reminds of matches and events from the Marcus Evans days, so there's very little that can happen this season that could ever be as bad as back then! | |
