Maybe. But what we are paying for loans and players we should be better than that. Too many misfiring and wed are desperately missing Nunez and Philogene.
It shouldn't be so, but it is. We don't have a centre forward of note. Hirst is clearly way off the pace. Azon has had one decent game and people moan about Clarke having the odd bad game It's the ones that have a bad game most of the time that are to blame. The likes of Cajuste, Akpom,McAteer who seems out of favour even though Egeli is not showing much.
If nobody is better to come in during the window we have to stick with what we have,

They got away with murder thanks to a weak referee who tried to prove his fairness by giving most decisions their way. At one point Azon was carrying their CH on his back. Nope, nothing. A touch on their player - foul! Our players booted? Nothing. He was rubbish and broke the flow of the game with his pettiness.
But yes you are right, it was up to us to hurt them. To make the most of the chances we had and break them. Down to us. Attack v defence. We are still struggling against mass defence if we don’t score early.
It’s been a problem all season. I know there’s going to be a lot of bed wetting and tears over the next few days, but I’ll only get seriously hacked off if I see the players not trying. They really are and despite what we should be doing to rubbish teams like this, it’s not that easy.
As it goes, while much of the team is in good shape, our midfield isn’t. Matusiwa is excellent, but he needs somebody with drive in front of him. Nunez was doing that more and more and is sadly missed. Cajuste does not and I’m hoping Neil fits the bill there when he’s fit.

Yeah I agree the ref was shte but they doesnt make them thugs. A physical side sure. But thats what this league is full of.
I loved mehmeti. Think hell be a really positive addition. Think we need to get Neil fit ASAP as you say. I do feel cajuste is better coming on late rather than starting. A cajuste against tired legs is better imo. | |

I think it’s odds against now.
We just don’t look settled and ‘right’ somehow. We have so many players better than garbage teams like Preston but comprehensive performances only come if we get an early goal or it clicks as it did against Coventry.
My concern is that midfield. It’s not right and it is more of a problem than the CF position for me. I thought Azon did alright, but too often he was being dragged back into midfield leaving the outlets purely down the side.
There was plenty of things done well in today’s game and the killer prizes time only really begins in March, but if we want to stand a chance of promotion this season, we’ve got to sort out the spine of the team. Yes it should have been done by now, but we are where we are. Do that and we will murder teams because we are not that far away.
My mackem mates reckon Neil is a really good, driving player. Fingers crossed he’s given a chance soon. | | | |
