That we have an off day without everybody crying into their Weetabix?

The amount of entitlement that some of our fans have is incredible. Did everyone think that we should just walk the league because we've dropped some cash? Makes me chuckle to see how wound up people get and how venemous people are towards our players these days if they dare have an off day. Should we end going up these are the same people that will be on pitch rushing to get near their 'heroes'.

But surely entitlement comes when you spend the money we have. Ultimately, with the mkney we have spent we should be expecting top 2. The press and the owners certainly will be.

Examples of having and spending large volumes of cash and failing are numerous in just the championship Soton, Leicester, Blunts, Budgies.

The only Muff in Town.

Is giving opinions on a game entitlement now? Pretty sure that’s the point of a forum.

Most of the comments are pretty accurate- slow, predictable, pedestrian and lacking energy. I’ve not seen many ridiculous hot takes or singling out players (unduly).

Yes. They are all failing and they havent spent as much as we have in the past 18 months. They have all gone through several managers too. McKenna will be a lucky boy if he survives a failed promotion this season.

Again its not entitlement.

The owners would be entitled if they felt it as they fund the club and they would be able to feel the entitlement behind their spends and that they were owed promotion on the back of it.

The only entitlement town fans could have is to be able to watch a town game if they've paid for a ticket. The ticket doesnt gaurentee a win. Its entry to watch football being played.

What you and others mean when you chuck out the entitlement word, is desire. And wxpectations which is not the same as entitlement.

Theres a desire to be doing better. Theres also an expectation that we should do better with the players we brought in.

Are the top 2 decided in Jan/Feb?
You may well be right about the expectations, but are we saying that is not achievable now?
Feels a bit premature.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Whilst I agree completely, its the wrong time to say this, as you will have loads of posts about opinions, forums, the fact we are awful and some guff from Frimmers who has an opinion on everything.

Its been like this all season and its not changing anytime soon.

Massive difference between entitlement and expectation.

With the level of resource we have at disavowal, the expectation is rightly high. The board will expect promotion. Rightly.

The problem with this forum - is according to some - everyone has to be 100% positive all of the time and forget very poor recent performances and results against: Oxford, Wrexham, Blackburn, Leicester, Millwall, Sheffield United, Preston. Yes, plenty of good results in between - but focusing on just the good performances and ignoring the poor ones isn’t really the purpose of a forum.

This.

While I think a lot of the takes I've read are a bit mad, it is never the less a football forum!

I'm not entirely sure what the OP was expecting to encounter on here.

I agree with the OP that the amount of crying on here is quite extraordinary but that doesn’t neglect the fact that we are underperforming and should be doing better.

I still think that we will go up automatically but there needs to be a lot of improvement. We play in quite a lethargic manner and a number of our players are either playing within themselves or simply lack the ability to become top class championship players let alone average PL ones.

I also fail to understand why it’s entitlement to expect more when the budget has dramatically increased - yes there are examples of teams failing to capitalise on their financial advantages but so what? Just because others have failed it does not excuse our failings in recruiting good players.

As I said, I think we will still go up automatically and anyone who says that we won’t catch-up with the top two is talking nonsense. I’m not as confident but still confident (I realise that that last sentence makes little sense).

I know. We drew at home. That's all. We're all a bit disappointed, especially after last week, but really.....
I'm looking forward to Portsmouth and the next few away games already.

Getting very bored of you keep picking me out. Even your abusive post the other day was deleted because you just wont stop.

Have a look at your own posts. Do I give opinions on everything yes I do. But I discuss things and share thoughts on thinge . Your posting history shows nothing but pot shots at posters with no actual input into the thread being discussed. So yeah your quick to pick me out but how about you use the forum to discuss things and take a risk that someone might not agree with your thoughts rather than logging in to literally belittle posters that do. What is the usage of the forum for you if all you do is comment about how you dont like a poster and their post but don't even say why.

Anyways ive kept quiet upto now on you but you just havent stopped.

It wasn't an off day, just that again we found it difficult to find a way to goal, I have seen Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool struggle to break down a low block team who for much of the game show little intent on winning, so we just have to get better at finding a way over, round or through these type of tactics. Preston looked like a struggling side but did what they had to do, defended very well and with the help of a referee who looked like a Preston fan for the entire game, they very nearly beat us.
But agree there is no reason to get too upset over a game like yesterday.

What is the OP expecting to encounter on here?

If we don't score in the first 15 minutes we tend to get edgy and that shows in players who are carrying high expectations: strikers and ones we've spent big money on.

The negativity of some of our fans generates frustration and anxiety and this finds its way onto the pitch and it becomes a downward spiral.

Of course criticism is expected and valid at times but what's the point when it's clearly impacting player and team performance?

Anyone who's been a parent will know that excessive encouragement is all part of a kid enjoying himself and reaching his potential. It's the same with adults too. It's how people work, we're not robots.

Helping to lift your team is far more satisfying than sitting smugly in your seat knowing all along that you were right about certain players being over-priced or not good enough.

I expect nothing.

What I've seen on this forum over the last few years is a move from optimistic togetherness that want the club to succeed to a place where a lot of posters can't wait to tear into the team because they are underperforming based on a monetary value that they themselves had no bearing over. Egeli is a classic example. When we bought him, it was clear that he needed time, he was young, he was one for the future. However due to injuries and circumstances he started probably a lot earlier than he should. So now he's not quite ready he's a waste of money. McAteer is another.

It's not all our fans. Its probably a lot that we picked up as we rose through the leagues, however we've lost on this forum what made our fan base great. The togetherness. We had it when we went up, it seems that some of our fans may only be fans when we are winning. Maybe that's the takeaway point here.

Its 100% entitlement when you have fans basically moaning about top2 in Jan.
The season ends in May, they don't turn around in May and say sorry yes, you are top of the league after the last game but as you sat in 3rd place in Jan you're not promoted.

Its pure entitlement.

I think it’s more the fact we can all See our forwards aren’t good enough, and no one seems to be doing anything about it.. the lack of goals Contributed by our forwards, and the sheer amount Of good opportunities that get wasted by them is sole destroying.

My point was more that it should be fairly obvious that you are going to get a divergent range of opinions on a football forum particularly given the rather "bumpy road" we've been on in the last couple of weeks.

I agree with some of your sentiment but it looks a bit silly to come on a football forum appealing for everyone to see things from your point of view because it frustrates you that people don't currently.
