Going to be meltdown on here if we don't sign a striker by Chris_ITFC 2 Feb 15:10
Or people could just be adults about it, trust the Club (obviously) did everything they could, but decided (for the best interests of the club) that there wasn’t any deal possible or worth doing.

If you look at £48m to get the worst Premier League club’s misfiring striker (Strand Larsen), it doesn’t surprise me that we haven’t found anything worth investing in.

I'd like a number 9 to come in but if we've got what we've got then so be it and personally I think we will cope albeit it might be tight

I can only judge this Jan window come the end of the season to ascertain whether it's been a let down or we've been successful and got promotion

Chances created and goals scored suggest we're not in a bad place

If we don't sign a striker I'll go mental, even if we win 10 tomorrow night.

If we don't sign a striker, it'll be what it will be, and we shall have to see what happens come May.

If, for whatever reason, we don't win promotion, part of that particular inquest will have to be the club's failure to fulfil their No9 objectives (it's clear the club wanted another striker in addition to Delap) over four transfer windows.

If we win promotion anyway, it'll all be forgotten about.

I've seen the word meltdown on here today so many times, almost like "people" want to bait others into a reaction.

Surely any actual ITFC fan would feel disappointment at us not strengthening an area where we are clearly lacking this season? mentioning that, or discussing that isn't a meltdown, is it?

most of the fans won't, but the usual suspects will happily go into meltdown if we don't get a striker OR we don't beat pompey.

it's their natural state

We did land a striker in the timeframe you mentioned and he was really good too.

Sorry - I've not really been particularly clear there.

Even having signed Delap, it was clear that the club wanted/needed another striker - hence the £30m bids for Ioannidis and Broja. They then chased Reiss Nelson and Igor Jesus in the January window.

We were linked with strikers again in the summer (Marc Guiu, anyone?), and have also been during this window.

It is clear that the club has wanted at least one additional striker in each of the last four windows and, for whatever reason, has failed to fulfil that objective.

Quite a few already there.

However it will be piss poor, as it would mean 3 bad results on the spin and failing to remedy a problem we’ve had for about 2.5 years now

It won't wait until 90 minutes. If we aren't ahead after about 35 mins it will start.

I don’t think it matters now Nutkin. The nappycrappers have the bit between their teeth and if we win the next five games they’ll still be after the players and the club. They’re loving it because they’re ……..involved and playing their part. If McKenna comments which he frequently does, great. Having an effect. If a keepers confidence is destroyed, brilliant! Proves the entitled were right.

Even that darkhorse28 bloke has emerged from under his yellow and green rock with his usual bile.

The forum used to be insightful, interesting, fair and a good place for football discussion. But it isn’t now. The good, balanced posters like yourself are ebbing away. There’s a reason for that.
