Why no striker? I don't think I've ever spoken about strikers in particular. I said I'd look at squad and see how we could improve it. Every area of the squad we look at in that respect. Really happy with what we've brought in. In other areas of the squad, very few players who could improve the squad and those that were weren't attainable in this window. Of course, you want to strengthen the squad in every area, but not making a signing in the last few days I don't think that's a bad sign, it would have been really easy to get a positive vibe for the sake of doing it. But that's a sign of weakness. Really happy with the two we've added. Would have liked to have added in a few different ways, but wasn't possible but we stick with the squad that we've got, which is improving. |
I had heard that Szmodics attitude was upsetting the team , didn't want to post prior to him moving , we caught of glimpse of it at end of games when he came on , he was quickest off the pitch when others were applauding the crowd - Kieran is a great Man Manager but sometimes its best to let someone go that is unhappy and disruptive , this could be one of the biggest positives of the window for us |  | | |

Azeez a player we've identified for a while, has different qualities to those we have in the building and we were using the window to improve the squad in any way we could. In terms of bids, I'm not across that. In terms of right wing, we sold Omari late in the summer, believed he would be here for the season, club made record sale. Looked to strengthen in that area, but impossible to replace what Omari was giving us. Club did what was right, brought in Kasey, really good, will get better and better, just because you spend money, doesn't mean hit the ground running. And we had the chance to bring in Sindre, who can contribute and play on the right wing. 19, not played outside of Scandinavia. Good half-season for that. Really strong acquisition, really contributed, but we knew or we know that he can perform to a consistent level in the Champ and believe he will continue to develop. Set up really well in the future, Wes has made a good return, lots of reasons in the mix. Reason we have the money to invest in a winger is bravery of ownership. Brought in some more and continue to work with them and believe they will have an input in future. |

Not the place to talk in depth about recruitment and role. New head of recruitment, Mark A has said that area has needed to grow and improve. My role in the head coach/manager era, I spend most of my time on the training ground with players, have an input and we try and make the right decisions. Know it's an important area, if we're going to be successful, going to be important. |

My hunch is he leaves in the summer. Palace feels like a really obvious destination given Steve Parish clearly rates him highly and nearly got him before, and that vacancy will be there. Glasner is on big money so that won't be an issue. Established PL side, will have the chance to put his stamp on things there with a few additions, and a perfect stepping stone if he wants United or Spurs at some point.

Ashton drip-feeding to the EADT that "numerous strikers were put to McKenna by the recruitment team, but Kieran rejected them". That was a big red flag, for me.
I'm hoping there's not an internal power struggle going on. I know clubs need to ensure they are future-proofing themselves and ensuring we recruit well post-McKenna, but Kieran surely has credit in the bank to pick players that fit his system?! | | | |

Wouldn't that be out of the frying pan and into the fire ?
After Rodgers, Amorim, Maresca and Glassner this season it seems that the dissatisfaction of managers/head coaches is out in the open and part of any press conference is a reminder to the owners that to get results on the pitch the manager/ head coach needs some control over the squad. |  |
