You are 100% correct. It’s what I’m trying to say, people won’t stick around for long if the footie is no good. Even more so nowadays. I remember the 8000 odd in the ground at the end of the Burley era(I was one of them that day). A lot of the fans have jumped on the band wagon,we know that and they will be gone again if we don’t get promoted either this season or next. I really think it has to be this season, next is going to be really tough. People need to be entertained in today’s climate or it doesn’t hold their interest Im afraid. There are a couple of guys in front of me who have already stated they won’t be back because the football we play isn’t great and the woman and her son next to me said they aren’t coming again because a)they can’t afford it and b)”we don’t play like we used to” her words not mine. |

I think the 'rules' are almost the opposite to that. You can clearly say that Boro are decent, Coventry, Hull, even Millwall. But admit that we are on a par with most of them at the very least and are doing pretty well too. I think the annoyance this thread has generated isn't in being impressed by another team, it's the automatic reflection on town and needing to be better and them worse and being scared of how much better the other teams are. And by extension seeming to turn into a bit of a moan and a 'why aren't we doing that', when we are doing are own thing and clearly in a decent position ourselves.
Boro are having a great season and playing well, it's going to be a storming finish, we're holding our own and looking solid. I think Coventry might drop back. Good luck to Boro, a slightly different way of doing it but they're bossing it at the moment. Bring on the last few months, squeaky bum time.

Fair enough. The first two pages is overwhelmingly reasonable compliments or acknowledgement imo, alongside other posters bristling to that. Negative comparison comes from one poster, lazyblue. Nothing wrong with recognising another good team - I do it all the time myself. Knocking Town as part of that is different. Some just seem to want to use anything to criticise our club.
