There has been a British pub at Alicante Airport for years, and looking at the photo I think the Wetherspoons has taken it over.

Interestingly, in naming the pub, they've opted for Valencian (similar to Catalan) rather than Spanish.

Talking of Alicante Airport, yesterday it was 26.1 degrees according to the Spanish official weather station at Rojales, some 15 miles south of the airport.

The forecast for the next week is sunny with temperatures as high as 24 degrees.

With the weather we've had, it's very tempting to take a short break with airfares probably dirt cheap at this time of year.

An added bonus would be seeing the new Wetherspoons.

I had thought going from Monday to Friday might be a bit cheaper, but if the weather holds and I delay till next Friday, the price comes down to £58.

Fortunately, I am retired so fairly flexible.

I have seen a few board legends in the Hamilton Hall who claim they would never go in a Spoons.

Today I was drinking Adnams Old Ale a nice drop of dark ale coming in at 4-1%.
