It's exactly that. A treat. Delightful cosy heartwarming telly at it's absolute best. Love it.

Yes it’s a good watch I can’t make out if it’s funny or not.

I’m loving Michael Palin’s character in it.

Watched the first 3 episodes last night,a great quirky British comedy, Mackenzie is a talented writer/ director.
Just seen he made 2 series of Worzel Gummidge, has anyone seen it? Worth watching?

Very excited to watch it, as ‘The Detectorists’ is probably my favourite TV program ever and think Mackenzie Crook is a genius.

Worzel Gummidge was very good, for older kids really so full grown adults might find it a bit advanced...

The buckets scene was absolutely hysterical, fantastic TV we rinsed the series in an evening.

Quite dark , not slapstick cup of tea and a slice of cake stuff, but having rewatched the original series a while back, it was darker than I remember as a kid! Worzel was a bit of a rascal, and Aunt Sally was a right piece of work.

It’s great. I’m 4 eps in. Has that lovely, gentle, meandering warmth. It’s like a comfort blanket against all the current awfulness out there. The Detectorists was quite simply as close to perfect telly as you can get. Small Prophets isn’t quite at that level, but it’s a joy to settle into. Mr Crook is a very talented man.

On your recommendation, I’m on a day off and have just sat through the first 4 episodes. Got the feel and pace of Detectorists, cheers for the tip!

I was trying to keep to one episode a day (a guaranteed feel good half hour if the day had turned to sh!te) but I went and watched the fifth on Saturday morning so had to watch the final one on Saturday evening...just a suggestion for today in case we don't get what we want for this evening.

Gorgeous programme. Mackenzie writes with so much warmth and loves exploring just normal people. He said his one regret with Detectorists is choosing to frame it being in Essex despite being filmed in Suffolk.

On Small Prophets, I’d have definitely asked the homunculi whether we really were close to signing Batistuta.

Was such a struggle not to binge it, but we managed to keep to one episode a day

Absolutely fantastic telly. Such a welcome change from the slick, over-produced series that are all style and no substance that netflix constantly puts out.

Without wishing to make it political, we're so lucky to still have the likes of BBC and Channel 4 because this sort of comedy wouldn't come from anywhere else

Detectorists is so Suffolk, I find it a hard watch living away.

It was pleasant and entertaining. I watched and enjoyed it.
It wasn't actually funny though, was it? Gently amusing- yes. But no actual laughs.
