| What a terrible performance 21:53 - Feb 13 with 1590 views | ashtonscoffeecup | What on earth is Mckenna doing with that line up tonight. picks all our players who have confidence in the gutter to play in the same team, and picks the worse of them all as captain. that isnt good man management at all tonight sums up everything wrong with us, no urgency, nobody anticipants anything, repeat what fails over and over. Not a single player had a good game. special mentions to Walle and Hirst for outdoing themselves and being worse than they normally are 1000 fans there tonight, they deserve a pat on the back as even by our standards in away games this season, that was bad i'm very open to be told the positives so please ensure you include those in any replies. | | | | |

The positive is that we don't have another game to fit into a packed schedule. Horrible performance, but forget about it and move on to next Saturday.

| What a terrible performance on 22:18 - Feb 13 with 1030 views | Churchman | Nice to hear from you. You’ve been quiet for a week or two. So what would your team have been tonight and what exactly were your expectations? I agree about repeat fails though. Last week we should have lost 10-2. In any case, on the 13 league games since Dec 1st (let’s forget the home FA Cup game to help your point, we have only won 8 times, drawn 3 lost 2. Failure, utter failure. We should have won all 13 5-0 and tonight 2-0. You are clearly the expert, what’s the solution to our terrible, Leicester-esque form? McKenna out? | | | |

Agree with you and clearly the positives are nobody got injured and one less game - while giving players like Dan Neil minutes. However, I haven’t seen the interview, but if there was a wry smile at the end it’s not a great look is it in view of the crappy journey and conditions our lot have travelled up in?

Once again, anyone going should have known exactly what would happen tonight. Given that you're second point is pretty irrelevant. SB [Post edited 13 Feb 22:21]

"All the fans who went knew beforehand what was going to happen" they knew our current worse preforming player would be given the armband to lead us? i doubt anyone considered that if i'm honest. ok, i understand why he fielded that team, he has other things to prioritise. that said, he must be pretty sick of what he saw tonight? i guess thats my main point i'm trying to make. not a single player has shown they are worth a spot next week, with some going even further back in terms of progress. thats my sensible answer to my heat of the moment OP

Not sure any of that counters my point to be honest. Everyone knew it would be a weakened team and it was miles better for us if we lost given the fixtures. The Second Tier podcast even said it would be better if we lost given the fixture congestion. It was obvious what was going to happen. SB

my expectations were to see a team go out there with a bit of fight about them, a team to show quality in key moments, composure, anticipation. i expect a player that has cost £17m to pass it to his own player, I expect Cajuste to step up and run the midfield, i expect some sort of urgency in our play. And more than anything else, a bit of pride. Probably too much to ask though, and i guess I'm the problem. far from Mckenna out - FWIW i don't believe this is his problem. our recruitment has been nothing sort of terrible.

as long as the second tier podcast think it i guess that's all that matters. of course a weakened team was going to happen, but in terms of the quality of the performance (individually) does that not worry you at all? (genuine question) as these are guys we will need in the next 16 games, and a number are in terrible form

Why don't you counter the point properly rather than making sarky comments? Explain how having another match in the cup and another league match rearranged as well as the Pompey match rearranged would be beneficial to our promotion challenge. SB

Hooray! Up comes the money. Wow, I never knew we’d paid fees; spent money. Did it come out of your pocket or did they just ignore your advice as prospective head of recruitment? Let’s be honest our recruitment has been awful. Terrible. Not one player has done anything in the past four transfer windows. Not one. Matisuwa - worthless Clarke - pony that’s been lucky with pens and doesn’t do much Philogene - rubbish especially away from home Mehmeti - done nothing for us first half of the season Nunez - been useless in the last month Delap - what did he do for us? Waste of money Hutchinson - garbage. Even Forest fans hate him Furlong - not a patch on Donacien (who I thought was a good professional) Kipre - what has he ever done? O’Shea - can’t pass, can’t defend. Obviously a major reason why our defence is so dreadful with nearly a goal a game conceded. Neil - captained Sunderland’s promotion team. What’s he done for us. Get rid. Then we have Davis, Burns, Hirst Walton from the old brigade. We’d never get back what we paid for them. Not all transfers succeed. Just ask Chelsea and Liverpool to name but two. Some players have not done as well, or settled as quickly, as I’d hoped. The good news is that if we all batter a young man who is new to this country and English football and who a lot of clubs were allegedly after, we might be able to drive him out as successfully as we did Muric. Are you saying the players didn’t try or care? Simple question, yes or no. I’ve not watched the game back but if they did that, I’ll be booing with you. 100% effort is the minimum requirement. Oh, and for the record McKenna approves the signings - according to McKenna and MA. So you must want him out. If you are saying he’s lied, you must want him out for that too. Either way, don’t worry. He will soon be gone.

I thought i had made my points perfectly clear with this "of course a weakened team was going to happen, but in terms of the quality of the performance (individually) does that not worry you at all? (genuine question) as these are guys we will need in the next 16 games, and a number are in terrible form" Is it a situation where its we can either get promoted or play with a bit of quality/pride in a cup game? I personally believe that winning is a great habit to get into, and if along the way we can drag the levels of Hirst/Walle/Cajuste up a notch or two it'll only help us in the league. I respect that you don't care we lost. just confusing that an Ipswich fan wouldn't show some concern in the manner we did.
