I would say it's forgiveable only if we're promoted automatically

Yep he prepped it in my view like the chance at a mid season break with a warm up friendly. Which given our league ambitions is correct.
Understand why people are miffed at performance but I don’t think we tried to do much else and overreacting given the context.

Haven't seen it but did he say he didn't want to risk drawing a Premier league team and seeing just how short of the level we are?

"They break our legs and tell us to be grateful when they offer us crutches."

It was clearly his attempt to experiment but it can't have done anyone's confidence any good, and it's a bit of an insult to all those fans who made the long trip up there and undoubtedly forked out a large wodge of cash for that toothless (Kieran Dyer's words) display.

Sorry if that is the case, what about all the fans travelling to the game to expect some form of a performance.

Along with giving players game time and a chance for us to attempt to play in Wembley?

Not having it whatever he says in public. Yes the Championship is the real prize but he cant be happy with what was on show tonight?
Every game you want to win!

Not sure I’ll be wasting my time and money going to another cup game any time soon.

When we got to the last 10 minutes I had reached the stage where I didn’t want us to score and force another 30 minutes of that.

From a lot of the comments I've seen in this and other threads tonight then it seems like lots of Ipswich fans believe that none of us should ever expect to win a cup game, fully accept that a dreadful performance will be put out, and therefore just don't buy a ticket and go. And it's your own fault if you've done so and lost a lot of cash watching complete dross tonight. Pretty sad.

That’s a bar he’s now set for himself. Let’s hope he and the team meets it and then tonight becomes a bit more palatable.

Lets be blunt. The FA cup is a lovely idea. We arent about to win it. Big clubs get serious come the semis.

His entire purpose and job is centred around promotion. The FA cup income is dwarfed by PL income.

Its sad, but its absolutely inevitable with how the game is set up.

Poll: Will the US Mid terms get cancelled or "postponed"?

I feel sorry for the people who spent money and time on the away trip.

But I’m not angry at McKenna or the club or tonight’s players.
I’m not angry about this particular game.

However to be clear

I am very angry at the people who run football. And that the game for the people has been turned into a way for the wealthiest to continue the financialisation of everything.
I’m angry at the selfishness that sees being the richest club as more important than the broader level of competition.

That’s the context in which cup games become denigrated.
I think the anger should maybe be directed that way rather than inwards at ourselves.

We got to the holy grail last year and it was shite. Give me an FA cup win over 3 years of finishing 14, 16, and 15 in Premiership anyday. Record attendance for nearly every English club is an FA Cup game. The FA cup matters to fans but not clubs.

Finishing 14, 15, 16 in the Premier League is a much bigger achievement tha getting to the 5th round of the FA cup

In fact finishing mid table in the PL is probably a similar achievement to winning an FA cup these days.

Unfortunately for the last 20 years+ you have not really had a chance at an FA cup win unless you are in the prem, and mostly top 6 at that.
