Last year I went to the Imperial War Museum, and there's a bit in there with old newspapers from just before the start of WW2.
The language used there was not dissimilar from the language used now by anti-refugee people. Talks of an "invasion", repeated use of the word "alien", saying we're an island and we can't take too many etc.

Unfortunately you're missing the point. Reform and the rhetoric they use demonises the present day immigrant population and refugees with the same language that has been used to persecute Jews for over two millennia. The same 'othering'. The same taking your jobs. It's the same playbook.

I think it's disingenuous of you to claim that he he's never made a comment on the issue, when you are presumably aware that he was a signatory in the now disgraced 'No Hostage Left Behind' open letter to Joe Biden - which spread that awful misinformation on Palestinians beheading Israeli babies etc.
The letter he signed also only called for the return of Israeli hostages, not the tens of thousands of Palestinian hostages taken by Israel before and since October 7th.
So I think you can make the argument that this person singling out Matt Lucas in this sort of way is reprehensible - which it is - but claiming he has never publicly taken a view on the conflict is incorrect, and therefore claiming it's solely because he's Jewish is not something you are able to ascertain. My guess would be that the person filming loosely recalled Matt Lucas being a signatory of that letter and thought it was appropriate to challenge him on it, with all the grace and vocab of a drunk idiot. |  |

I think one has to be careful not to judge how language was used 90 years ago by what it means today. Context also has to be appreciated.

Ah, is that where it may have come from. I was wondering why they would even know Lucas is Jewish (I didn’t) and if the was a chance it could be coincidence and his celebrity was the reason they were engaging with him. Highly unlikely by the sounds of it if he’s been ‘outed’ and this guy’s got history.

You do realise that antisemitic hate crimes are significantly disproportionate to the Jewish population size? Jews make up just 0.5% of the population of the UK yet 29% of reported religious hate crimes.
For example, hate crimes against Jews in the UK are the equivalent to 106 crimes per 10,000 Jews. In comparison, for Muslims the total was 12 per 10,000 Muslims.
You've constantly pushed back against the the narrative that antisemitism is rising for as long as I can remember. Some examples of which are on this thread.
