Yep, teams who actually want to come and play rather than 'spoil', we tend to do well against.

This is true, and it's frustrating.

But we can't complain whilst we're failing to stick our chances away. The number of games when we've had 60+% possession in the first half, like Boro did against Coventry the other day, and didn't stick our chances away, and then we've not ended up with three points. Teams are allowed to defend. We need to be good enough to score a goal. There's a limit to the extent to which we can call ourselves "the better team" or the team that played "the better football" without appreciating that it is quite literally impossible to win any game of football without scoring.

I know we've scored a decent number of goals this season, all told, but there have been plenty of games where we've not taken our chances, and the league table would look very different if we had. I really really don't understand how we can spend so very much money and have such a worse record than the majority of teams when it comes to missing big chances.

That Hull game is completely wiped from my memory for some reason... Which is weird because I was there.

It sounds like it was more a result of the trauma of physically going to Hull.

However bottom 5 is a long way off where we should be - we have yet to get a point away from home against any of the bottom 5 (although we have only played 2 of them away)

Oxford Utd
L 1-2 (A)
W 2-1 (H)

Leicester

Like you said, teams that are decent come to have a game as they have good enough squads to challenge us, thus allowing us a bit more space when attacking also. For the last decade it appears that the parking the bus teams are our undoing. Unless we get that early goal to force them into more positive play.

We have got out of trouble by scoring some decent solo goals. Not that that's a negative. Just wish we had a poacher in the box tapping in the cut backs like a couple of seasons back. Don't know if that's because our keep the ball at all cost slow passing is a factor in that. Opposition teams just seem ridiculously quick on counter attack.

That all said, we are in fourth after a poor start. So not too shabby. Badly need to crack the coming from behind issue and a bit disappointed that some of the fringe players haven't grabbed their chances when selected.

If we can beat Wrexham it will put the supporters in a better mood.

6 matches, 4 wins, 2 ppg. OK, you might want to have a slightly higher return as they are the bottom sides but it isn't terrible by any means.
