There's basically ten thousand people plus who turned up by after Game changer brought the money and success who weren't interested when times were tough. I overheard several conversations yesterday on the train back where people were talking about it as if it was the worst away performance they'd ever seen and all their references were Gamechanger era ones. We've become horribly entitled and it's pretty shocking that at the first point of a little bit of adversity in this era so many aren't interested in supporting the team..

Entitlement is the new numbskulls and bed wetter insult often thrown about by those who love to give examples of how it's better than X game from yesteryear to showcase their long standing super fan status.

Whilst complaining about losing isn't entitlement itself, there are a lot of comments about how we should walk this league and being doing better because of all the money that we've spent. That's the entitlement the OP is shooting for and one I agree with. Just because we have been in a fortunate position to drop a load of cash on players doesn't mean we will suddenly be a great team. Too many fans expect us to win rather than hope that we do.

Yesterday was bitterly disappointing but it's not unheard of to lose games of football. Wrexham are a good side and spirited. You have to give them credit. At ,3-2 we should win the game after showing good character. Very poor last 30 minutes. But miles away from a disgraceful performance. Poor game management and some individual errors. The reaction to any setback in this league this season from fans who think spending money means we should win every game is pathetic.

i dont truly believe anyone thinks we should walk the league. i do agree that the money spent on players, and the managers wage should see us in a better position. and if money doesnt help to achieve success then what/why are gamechanger and the investment team even doing this? they would certainly be expecting promotion, MA said the aim was promotion (we might still get it i know - but going up via the PO throws up more issues, less time to prepare for a PL season etc)

spending the money we have, with the manager on the wage he is should see results across a season be better than they have been. remember yesterdays reaction isnt just about one game. thinking it is is short-sighted and thick. if money doesnt result in better results/performances then why are gamechanger even here? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Agreed. Money doesn't necessarily bring you success but one thing it does do is bring you access. With the access we have, be it with recruitment or coaching then this isn't to the level you would conceivably expect. That's not entitlement. It's boom or bust every weekend.

I truly think you're far more interested in promoting yourself as ITFC's number one fan than caring about this club. Not buying it, pal. I'm glad fans are p#ssed off, annoyed, deflated etc because these are obvious emotions from true football fans after a bad loss. And it keeps a big , fat, lovely space open from when we do put in a great performance and win and we can express our happy emotions. These entitlement threads are getting seriously boring.
| Money = Entitlement in all walks of life. (n/t) on 10:03 - Feb 22 with 1288 views | bsw72 | Actually power creates entitlement, and money is one, but only one, form of power. Entitlement tends to flourish when wealth becomes the primary source of self-definition. Where it is not, where purpose, values, or hard-formed character precede and survive the money, wealth appears to sit lightly on the person. It suggests that entitlement is less about the money itself and more about what someone believes the money means about them. | | | |

Arrogance or lacking confidence? I don’t see a team strutting around expecting to walk every game, I see players scared to make mistakes and second guessing themselves.
| Money = Entitlement in all walks of life. (n/t) on 10:34 - Feb 22 with 1160 views | Ace_High1 | Really? Can anyone say if we had not spent all that money in last 2 years we would be much worse? We went down without a fight, maybe we would have had 8 less points but so what result is still relegation. However at least this year we would have had a team who knew how to get it done. We now have a bunch of individuals most of which are less effective than what we had, see two of our ex players yesterday. | | | |

Hello pal. Where did I say I wasn't annoyed or deflated? If you think the supporters haven't become entitled then that's fine. That's your opinion.

It is perfectly reasonable for fans to comment on the performance of managers. It is perfectly reasonable to assess managers' performance by reference to the resources at their disposal. A manager who achieves a high league position despite having one of the smaller budgets in the division, at least prima facie, has done an excellent job. By the same token, if a manager has an extremely sizeable budget and does not achieve a commensurate league position, there is room for genuine criticism. Saying "McKenna has underperformed by reference to his budget" is not the same as saying "we're entitled to finish in the top 2" or "we're entitled to get promoted". And when fans talk of the millions that have been wasted, they are essentially doing the former, and not the latter. Anyone who has been tuned into Town for a good number of decades knows that we're not entitled to anything. Not because of Sir Alf or Sir Bob, or because we were in the inaugural Premier League, or because we came 5th under Burley, or because we then suffered a lot, or because we now have money. No club is entitled, and as soon as they behave that way, other clubs rightly tear them down. I do not think that the fans are entitled. I think that they see underperformance, in relation to an institution about which they care deeply, and they are calling it out. Sometimes with excessive emotion, and sometimes with hyperbole. Twas ever thus.

| Money = Entitlement in all walks of life. (n/t) on 10:52 - Feb 22 with 1057 views | suffolkpunchdrunk | The term entitlement has been misused far too often on here recently to describe anyone with high expectations, but it properly refers to an unrealistic, unearned belief that one deserves special treatment. The idea that high investment should yield high performance is evidence based logic. We have outspent rivals to secure what the evidence suggests should be the best manager and squad available to win the Championship. This is supported by huge investment in backroom staff, facilities and the countless marginal gains that have been calculated to steer us towards success. We have essentially invested in a higher probability of success of being promoted to the Premier League. No guarantees obviously! Every possible person, tool and environment necessary for success has been provided for or has been made available to Mckenna. The failure to then make the squad perform as it should is a sign of systemic inefficiency and to criticise that inefficiency, a bad performance or an intransigence to change or adapt system is not entitlement! | | | |

what are you basing this on? and how have you reached the point where you can say that with conviction? we need to win both games in hand AND beat Boro to go a point ahead of them, 6 away games left, we are 14th in the away form table for the season. where are these points coming from?
