PPG so far 13:05 - Feb 22 with 1794 viewsashtonscoffeecup

Based on 31 games this season these are the following facts.

Home games - 2.19 PPG (7 games left to play - 15.33)
Away games - 1.27 PPG (8 games left to play - 10.16)

using that as a sign of how the remaining games will go we are on for a finish of 79 points. now, of course, these figures could end up being wildly out (one way or another)

but based on that 79 points, we'll fall short of 1st/2nd but some distance.

agree?

and btw, that away ppg is shocking isnt it

Small allocation at Wrexham… that’s your 40-point band of fans. If our most loyal and dedicated fans are upset in that way, that’s a problem.

I just didn’t think it was a performance that warranted that reaction

For parts of that game I really liked how we were playing

I thought Burns, Azon and Mehmeti played some great stuff.

I just think Wrexham were excellent and fired up, have a way of mixing direct and more measured play.

Two of their goals had a slice of luck in terms of balls bouncing into danger. And I know everyone will skate OShea for staying too far off Moore, but it’s a worldie finish

We scored 3 good goals for me.

It just wasn’t a poor performance on the road. Needed to be a lot better defensively and reduce errors. Fans right to be disappointed. But hearing how critical of the players is not good.

Fans not been on board all season. Been simmering in the background. You don’t got up automatically without fans supporting.

We deliberately lost the Cup game to focus on yesterday. Can’t then ship five Sunday league goals and not expect a reaction.

Yes we did well to get back to 2-2, and first 15 mins of second half we looked decent. But then we caved in. Subs made no difference either.

Not as if we’re getting outplayed by dazzling football; we were outworked yesterday by a direct team.

Can we stop blaming the fans. The team are getting pelters because it’s been so poor at times. ITFC fans are notoriously supportive (although sometimes not that vocal) and it does take a lot for fans to turn against the team. (Bar 1 or 2 idiots at the ground, and a number of trolls on here)

If our own team admit the opposition wanted it more, then why shouldn’t the supporters be pee’d off.

I get be constantly negative can impact the team over time, but realistically that hasn’t been the case. But supporters are beginning to get frustrated more and more because at times, the team just don’t turn up.

Yes but you missed the memo about showing unrelenting positivity. You must not criticise or you are entitled.

Sadly any nuance of debate is barely evident on here, you can’t possibly be behind the team but also identify that we are underperforming.

Your disappointed in that the reactions were different between an away win v Derby and a 5 3 loss to Wrexham?

Totally behind not condoning abuse etc if it was thrown. But youre not gonna get waka waka or super KM when youve just seen your side concede 5 goals to wrexham.

A worldie finish? O'Shea practically invited Moore to steady himself and shoot under absolutely no pressure, so he did and struck it well. Pathetic defending at any level. He had plenty of time to get closer to Moore, close the angle down but he just did nothing. O'Shea was embarrassing at times yesterday.

For pity's sake, not this again. Will people please stop blaming the fans, we were crap yesterday and the team and manager have deservedly taken pelters.

Yes it sounds like some of the abuse at the end was OTT, but frankly, so what. This team and manager are paid an absolute fortune to perform, and away from home for the most part, they haven't. If they don't want to get stick, then start putting in better performance's it's pretty simple.

Leif nailed it when he said Wrexham wanted it more, and their is no excuse whatsoever for that. We literally gave up our place in the FA cup so that we could focus on the league and then they serve up that? Stop making excuses for them.

Think most in here agree that our early season form and results were disappointing.

What’s our form like for our last ten games? Based in that do we improve on your 79 point analysis?

Thing is you cant keep blaming fans when players themselves are coming out and saying opposition wanted it more.

If you take Boro current PPG average as a marker for 2nd, we’d need 86 points. Going to be tight and we are going to have to beat them. At least 10 wins from 15 as well.

Exactly, and you could see it in the first half in particular yesterday, Wrexham were so much more aggessive than us, in the tackle, in the press, everything. We seemed to think we could just turn up and control the game by casually passing it around and they were having none of it. We seem to play with an air of arrogance at times which is really not justified because they are nowhere near as good as they seem to think they are.

home - played 5, wins 4 Draws 1 (PPG 2.5) (2.5 x 7 remaining away games = 17.5)
away - played 5. wins 2 Draws 1 Losses 2 (PPG 1.4) (1.4 x 8 remaining home games = 11.2)

Total of 28.7 points, added to the 54 we have - 82.7

So a slight improvement on the 79

side note - ive just pasted this into a service now ticket i'm working on, so looking forward to explaining that away

Just as a matter of interest, if Middlesborough just maintain their current PPG, they will finish on 86pts. If we maintain ours we will finish on 80 points. Not Included Coventry, I think they're back in pole position, for now at least. Or to put it another way, If Boro did end up with 86pts, we'd need a PPG of 2.13 over our remaining 15 games to just equal it.

If we win on Tuesday, our away PPG for the last three away games will be 2, and for the last four games will be 1.5, both better than our average this season.

I'm a glass half-full kinda guy.

79 points sounds about right given where we are at, I don't seeing us getting over 80. May only take 72 points for a play off place. Yes the away form is killing us and will ultimately be our downfall in the play offs as 79 points likely gives us away leg first which for us is a disadvantage.
