Nunez 23:11 - Feb 24 with 1923 views

For me.. nunez stays fit. Its a big big plus for auto hopes.

Having he and Neil on the pitch really helped get the ball across the pitch at various speeds and angles.

A modern town version of magilton. Ping..

Nunez was the difference last night. We look so much better with him in the 10 position.

Our run of form earlier in the winter coincided with him having a run of games there.

I do like Mehmeti, but Nunez is different class.

Nunez starting most of the remaining games is the difference between automatics and playoffs.

According to interweb

14 wins, 6 draws, 6 losses

This results in an individual Points Per Game (PPG) of 2.00 for Núñez while on the pitch for Ipswich in the 2025/26 season.

we've won 5 of the last 7 games Nunez was involved in to note too

I'd like to see Mehmeti given a chance at right-10. He's got the dribbling skills to play wide. No-one has nailed that position like left-10.

2.19 PPG when Nunez starts
1.31 PPG when Nunez doesn't start.

He's started exactly half our league games. I wonder if any other player in the squad has a bigger disparity.

Good point. Maybe it won't work like Clarke and Philogene, but if we want to get as many of our best players on the pitch then Mehmeti on the right could well work.
Mind you, that would require an admission that 2 players worth 30 million quid + Wes aren't as good as a left 10 / 10.

Almost like it's intentional...

I keep posting it on here but Nunez is just so much better than i thought, he's an incredible player and what on earth was the Norwich leadership thinking of letting us have him for any price. I get it made financial sense but honestly what a bad decision...

He is such an intelligent player. It's some of the little things he does that impresses me. Take the strike that Azon puts over, he knows just to give it that deft little touch into his path.

Also, that switch pass he makes time and time again is so important in trying to break down teams that play the compact block. If he is fit, he has to be starting in the 10 and if that means playing Mehmeti off of the right, I am all for it.

Thing is mehmeti could be used in various ways

Can rotate with Nunez in the 10, be played on the right side. But also i'd like to see him in the broady role which might then get extra use out of Davis... not as a replacement of clarke or jayden, but another option.

I like to calculate the players' "personal goal average" (goals scored divided by goals conceded during a player's time on the pitch). Taken with an enormous chunk of salt, it could be seen as an indicator of an individual player's effectiveness.

Nuñez's goal average is 5th best at 1.94. The full top 10, with perhaps a surprising leader:

Part of me thinks Nunez may be a better bet away from home as he can drop in to give us an extra body in midfield and his passing and ability to link play when we want to move through the pitch quickly is a big asset. At home when teams sit deep and we need something a bit different I think Mehmeti is a better bet, more direct goal threat and can unlock defences in a couple of ways. It's good to have two slightly different but very high quality options in that 10 role. And if Jaden isn't back soon there's the option of Mehmeti deputising as a left 10 and rotating with Clarke.
