The flattening of O'Shea towards the end of the game.. 09:24 - Feb 25 with 1243 viewsitfcpaul

How did the referee not see that and send the player off?

Hopefully he didn't, which would open the door for retrospective action.

What was even more flummoxing is why he saw fit to book Walton, and then seemingly give us a free kick

That doesn't help us though. We've played Watford twice.

Gave us the free kick, booked Walton for the protest.

66 should have had a second booking several times over.

If the incident is in the referee report and he deemed he didn't need to take action there is no retrospective punishment possible. If the officials didn't see it, then post match action can be taken. See the BTA incident at Norwich recently.

They could easily have been down to 8 men. How Louza exited the game without a yellow was beyond me and two of their other players on yellows deserved a second one, then the assault on O'Shea. Ref was low key terrible all game.

He was overly lenient I thought. The right back got booked for swiping Clarke then did the same thing 5 minutes later and got away with it. The 66 just basically got a free reign to do what he wanted all night.

RE Louza, I'd imagine that if we were in the Prem, that high foot he caught Matusiwa on the thigh with in the first half would have been a red on VAR review. He was probably lucky that Azor just brushed it off like nothing happened.

As for the punch on O'Shea, that will 100% be a retrospective ban.

Yep. He was just guessing.

Was a weird ref tbh. Thought he was decent in the first half, but dreadful in the second. How Louza managed to avoid a booking was remarkable, and as mentioned a few times on here their winger could have had 3 or 4 second yellows.

Felt to me like once we went ahead he turned into a complete homer. Can't really argue with the pen, there's contact and Furlong was stupid, but it's on the soft side as the contact was minimal and you see those not given more often than not. He couldn't wait to give it. And he increasingly let them get away with murder, lots of things that he gave yellows for first half he then raised the bar so as not to have to send anyone off. Louza not getting any card all game was remarkable, he committed at least two yellow card offences and overall made 5 or 6 fouls so should have got one for repeated foul play if nothing else.

I nearly posted at HT how i felt he was the best ref we'd had this season, he imo did a really good job in that half, by FT he became one of the strangest officials i've seen this season.

It was like he had been taken over by someone else, especially not booking 66 who should have been sent off twice as well as Louza for that tackle on Matusiwa who, lucky for Louza, just got on with it, rather thenrolling about screaming like the majority do...Louza, by the way, wasn't the amazing player I thought I watched in the game at Portman Road, maybe that was because Matusiwa was supported by Dan Neil tis time?

The penalty Azon should have had looked far more of a shout to me. Poor ref, their striker should have been off 3 times, missed both hands in o Shea face, Louza going over the ball.

The only Muff in Town.

I text my brother after yet another foul by 66 saying, "how many more fouls is he allowed?!" and he replied in no uncertain terms, "c*** should be off"

The physical nature of the opposition is something I've felt we've not dealt with very well in the past, which made the nature of the win - with no goals conceded - particularly enjoyable. I also prefer it when we play in blue.

So good to feel the positive vibes here too.
