Ideally, inmates should be safe of course, so that makes me a hypocrite. But I'm struggling to care in his case. A bit of what goes around, comes around is karma.

I actually had a couple of mates who were inside when Huntley was first arrested. The stories were incredible, he chose not to put himself in numbers for his own protection when first arrived and instead tried to play that he was innocent and therefore didn't need to go into segregation.


It did not go well for him..

I actually have an incredible, slightly dark, but much nerdier link to the Huntley story..

Not really, was working for Cambridge Archaeological Unit at the time. On the Monday morning Cambridgeshire Police had vans outside the office waiting to drive me and another lad to some forest outside Soham where some walkers had reported a possible shallow grave/disturbed soil.

Thank feck, was a false alarm. Didn't make the minutes leading up to it any less distressing though.

It's happened a few times. Unsure if any of the claims were successful but it does at least cost us taxpayers a few grand in legal aid.

I have a slight link to the case. Company I work for rented a washing machine to Huntley at the time of the murders. Needless to say after forensics had finished with the washer, we definitely did not want it back. It was wrecked.
