Anyone got any albums they listen to that just seem to get better with the years?
For me it's The Black Album by The Damned.
When I brought it back home 46 years ago I was a touch disappointed with it, being a big departure from the sound of their first their first three albums. I stuck with it and came to enjoy it. Listening to it now that it just seems to be a magnificent work. Even Curtain Call which took up all of side 3 and which I tended to skip over, I really enjoy now. Those organ sounds give it real atmosphere.
Mind you I still skip the live side.
Anyone got any similar albums that seem so much better today than on release?

Interesting. I look at it like a long decline. I think his solo stuff was a step down from TSC.
Also think he’s a bit of a prick.
I wouldn't argue with your opinion of him, from what I've heard anecdotally, but for me he peaked with Stanley Road for all I love The Jam.
No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Seeing as we are on TSC, Confessions Of a Pop Group was an abysmal failure but listening now it's so eclectic.
It's a very deep sea is one of my all time favourite songs of all time. The album in its entirety is a bit of a challenge but it's good in parts.
As far as Weller being a bit of bell end goes, he probably was/is but I think that comes with the territory to a certain extent. George Michael apparently told him not be a w**ker all his life and to have a day off for once at the Band Aid session, good advice I think.

He's an absolute bell end. He's fallen out with all his old pals. Eddie Piller is one of the few who hasn't cut him adrift. Me and the Mrs still see him in every tour though. Was at his last after show party. He wa sa bell end there as well.
Lucan (Bring him back) tells a great story about when he went to see "From The Jam" at a very small gig.
I hope he'll forgive me if I get this wrong, but he was having a slash in the urinals after the gig and Rick Buckler came in and started peeing next to him. Lucan turned to Buckler and said "If you see Weller, tell him he's a c**t". Buckler turned to Lucan and said "No need mate. He already knows he is".
TSC are a still responsible for the most joyous song ever written.
Weller still has this in his setlist.

Love Get Happy. The Imposter, King Horse, Love For Tender all great tracks that could have been hits. Trust is a big leap forwards.
Can I throw in Imperial Bedroom. Beatle-esque.

I always liked Phantasmagoria, but maybe too commercial for the die hards?
Thanks for the reminder. It's a bit of a while since I listened to Phantasmagoria. I'll be digging that out again now. It was a bit more commercial than the previous two albums with a couple of top 40 hits on it. It felt like a bit of a come back as it had been 3 years since Strawberries. It wasn't on the album but I can recall be thrilled to see the Damned on The Young Ones performing Thanks For The Night not long before releasing the album. At that time being on the young ones was the height of cool

Get Happy is just packed with great tracks GB and of course add Imperial Bedroom
Those 3 albums were released 1980, 1981 and 1982 (when he also managed to release Almost Blue) - pushing Harry in the "busy c-unit" stakes there.
Going off piste slightly, you heard the demos for what could have been a fantastic Costello/McCartney album? They both used tracks from the demos like Veronica, So Like Candy and My Brave Face but had they carried on working together it would have magnificent.
Elvis say this is the best McCartney vocal ever

I bought Phantasmagoria off the back of hearing Shadow of Love being played by Simon Bates on Radio 1.
