| Muric 16:37 - Mar 1 with 3401 views | _CliveBaker_ | Another MOTM performance today in Serie A. I can’t see a way back for him with us whether we go up or not, but I don’t think we’ll be short of offers in the summer. Should be able to get back what we paid for him you would think? | | | | |

i think it's a set fee if they want to buy him. would be in their interests to exercise the option, if only to sell him straight on for a quick profit

I am really pleased for Muric that he is doing well. It clearly wasn't a good time for him here but I think you are right about the terms of the loan.

2 wasted seasons with a grand total of 4 cup appearances. i'm sure he's well financially renumerated, but he'd have got a few games at the prem and more this season if he'd have stayed

Yes it was, IIRC it was roughly what we paid for him. Not close to the sentiment over there tbh but on the face of it seems likely they’ll trigger it. If not presumably some interest from elsewhere

He was loaned out for a reason, clearly Kmc felt there were better keepers at the club to keep. Some of the performances of Christian Walton lately, I’d make him very much correct in his decision.

I’m sorry, none of the keepers on our books are anywhere close to Muric. We needed a new number 1 last summer. Needed a new number 1 in January and will need another one in the summer regardless of what league we’re in.

Muric was signed because McKenna thought he was a better keeper than Walton. I am delighted that Walton is doing well and I hope he proves to be a very solid Premier League keeper for us. But Muric was a solid Premier League keeper had he played to his potential. Unfortunately, he didn't and he won't play for us again. He was loaned out because he wasn't likely to overcome the start he had made with us.

Your sentence “Muric was a solid Premier League keeper had he played to his potential”, sums his situation up perfectly. He was way below what was expected from clearly a talented keeper. His history of not learning from early errors which cost the team was a nail in the coffin every time. Walton is proving himself a very talented keeper once again and I’m glad he wasn’t the one loaned out.

i don't think it was anything to do with quality, more that a small section of the crowd wouldn't give him a chance to show his quality.

Six of one and half a dozen of the other really. A shame for player and for club. It must be difficult for players when their own fans are clearly on their backs. That said, I think Hirst is just about through the other side of a spell of that.

And he was on a fat wage and wanted out. Personally I think he is the best keeper on our books, I can’t see Juventus sniffing round Walton for 8 figures and time soon. It was also the right thing to loan him out in the summer. I think both those things can be true.

Absolutely, spot on. AM had his problems here, that can't be denied, but has come good and last time I checked on certain sites, is rated one of the top 5 keepers in Italy. Probably wanted out by the same people that wanted JC out, JP out etc, and now have Kasey McAteer in their sights. AM is best off out of it. Oh and CW is doing an excellent job.

Think it’s always important to remind everyone of what happened the day we played Arsenal at Portman Road. Muric went out of his way to post on instagram celebrating that he was winning a game of fifa (he was playing against Ipswich as well) mid match on his story while we were losing in real life to Arsenal. Captioned it something like ‘great Sunday’ or something like that. He was proving a point as a bit of a f**k you. I didn’t respect it, even if it was trivial in the grand scheme of things

Absolutely he is. There were some who were after him after one game and getting the treatment in a pre season friendly before he’d come on the pitch ended it for his time here. Yes, he made some dopey errors. However, it was easy to forget that last season he was at the wrong end of a coconut shy with the way most games panned out. A real shame. We have to let him go and take anything we can get for him. Yes, agreed, Walton has had a good season. He’s better than Palmer. Could he play in the PL? Possibly, but I’m not convinced.

Being the best keeper on a team's books isn't only about making highlights-reel-worthy saves in games we were usually losing anyway, it's also about having strengths that fit in to the team's approach to playing (rather than completely undermining it) and not visibly scaring the shit out of your defence. To which end, give me solid and unspectacular Walton any day of the week.

Haha have a day off. Walton is no where near Muric, especially from a shot stopping capacity. If we went up we’d have to get a new number one. Hopefully Pope so he can come back to Suffolk. Just wasn’t a right fit for Muric and he got thrown in at the deep end at Man City away. Big shame.

I'm sure he takes it into account when taking confidence and form into account. I think few would argue that it was right he left, but for me he has a far higher ceiling than anybody else we have despite Walton making a good fist of this season.

A section of our fans made his stay here untenable. The club/KmK will have seen this, and made the best decision for the player and the club.

That is nonsense, a couple of bellends booing him at a pre season friendly at Colchester didn't make the club loan him out. Other than Brighton away he was mosty sh1te for us, hence the panic buy of Palmer.

It wasn’t a couple, i.e. two, was it. There were considerably more on here alone piling in, let alone at games. If a keeper’s confidence is shredded and the crowd behind is just waiting for him to make mistake, there’s no way he can be exposed to that. He had to go, just as Andy Marshall did in the early 2000s. Edit: and our healthy cadre of haters know it. Whether it’s Wes Burns, AAH or this season George Hirst people wouldn’t do it if they didn’t think they could affect players. ‘Make a difference’. Why people get pleasure from that is beyond me. Free hit and the pleasure of bullying with no consequences? Only they know. [Post edited 1 Mar 21:29]

Tell yourself that if it makes you feel better, but it was far from only a couple, and not only at the preseason friendly. It wase systematic for months; maybe a minority, but a large vocal one. Edit: and Palmer was brought in due to Muric having an injury that resulted in him needing an operation. [Post edited 1 Mar 21:26]
