What, the bit where you complain about someone getting their facts wrong, whilst asserting something which is also incorrect?
| |
| According to David Lammy on 13:15 - Mar 6 with 1592 views | MattinLondon | In a later interview he corrected himself by describing Cyprus as a ‘nato ally’. He shouldn’t have said that Cyprus was a member of NATO but he obviously just made a mistake - he wasn’t trying to gain political advantage, just misspoke. You’re clutching at straws here. | | | |

I am not the deputy leader of the Labour Party in such an important role. He obviously thought Cyprus was a member of NATO

Camels now practice mindfulness and so are a lot more active in stress management- straws won’t have much effect on them now.

He will only be happy when taxes go to 50% and his pension is trebled, he's given a 24/7 personal driver and unlimited free groceries from Waitrose. Delivered, obviously.

People make mistakes, you make them almost daily with every post. The important thing is he corrected his mistake. You've not learnt to do that yet. SB
| According to David Lammy on 13:52 - Mar 6 with 1319 views | RadioOrwell | Same way that this happened. Partygate/Misleading Parliament: A 2023 Privileges Committee report found that Boris Johnson deliberately misled Parliament on multiple occasions regarding lockdown parties in Downing Street. Specific Misstatements: He was accused of providing false information on numerous occasions, with some commentators tracking "top ten" lists of inaccuracies within his first year. Refusals to Answer: In a February 2022 interview, he was noted to have refused to answer questions about rule-breaking parties 17 times. General Rule Breaking: OpenDemocracy reported 18 instances where Johnson was accused of breaking rules, including nine breaches of parliamentary rules in a single year (2018). Specific "Misspoke" Example: He formally "misspoke" (misrepresented) the Covid-19 rules regarding, specifically, whether households could meet in the North East in September 2020. Critics often cited his habit of "umbling and erring" as a technique, while others pointed to his history of being sacked for fabricating quotes or lying, notes one analysis. | | | |
| According to David Lammy on 13:54 - Mar 6 with 1304 views | RadioOrwell | Same way Liz did this. Russian Sovereignty Gaffe (February 2022): While serving as Foreign Secretary in Moscow, she mistakenly said that Britain would never recognize Russian sovereignty over Rostov and Voronezh, which are officially part of Russia. She likely intended to refer to Ukrainian regions. Derbyshire vs. Gloucestershire (August 2022): While campaigning for the Tory leadership in Cheltenham (Gloucestershire), she told supporters that the government was producing nuclear reactors in Derbyshire. "Tea Sock" Gaffe (2022): During a discussion on the Northern Ireland Protocol, she mispronounced "Taoiseach" (the Irish prime minister) as "tea sock". | | | |

That would be truly wonderful. Seeing as some begrudge O.A.P.s the pittance they get. I worked from 13 until I was 70, Paid N.I. for over 50 years and get the old State Pension which is less than the new one and I was required to have paid N.I. for 44 years to qualify. Now 35 years. I still pay tax, which increased by £250 this financial year and will increase another £116 next year. I was lucky enough to work for a company that pays me a pension alongside my State Pension. Apart from child benefit when my kids were young I have never claimed benefits. Yes, the State Pension is a benefit, which I object to it being called as I paid N.I. for 50 plus years. Where no other benefit requires paying into before receiving.

You probably would have fitted in quite well under the previous administration - Robert Jenrick, Suella Braverman, Jonathan Gullis, Benters. [Post edited 6 Mar 16:41]

I have no issue with pensions. I don't view pensions as benefits.
