| When you watch that leicester game back on 13:08 - Mar 9 by tractorboy1978 | Most games at this level are very fine margins aren't they? Saturday could easily have been 4-1 on another day - O'Shea sitter, at least one penalty, defender knew nothing about that Akpom shot that diverted off the inside of his heel. Nothing really went for us. Appreciate some people will say 'if my auntie had b*llocks she would be my uncle' but it's true. |
Yeah they are, and the result often dictates the narrative far too much. We've played a lot worse than that and scraped a win.

| When you watch that leicester game back on 12:43 - Mar 9 by RetroBlue | OP: and that's the reason we're not promotion contenders, either automatically ( not a hope of that tbh) or via PO's. We just dont have that ability to win must win games let alone against relegation threatened ones. Weve needed accomplished strikers for ages . The club messed up in.tye summer not getting in decent, ready to go, strikers.... Thats Mckenna and Ashtons fault. |
Every game is a must win game. In other words there isn’t any such thing. As it goes, two seasons ago we struggled against two of the top three gaining only 2 points and quite frankly we were second best in both of those. We took 4 off Saints but could easily have lost the home game and a single point off Norwich and WBA. This season, doubled Hull and Coventry, yet to play Boro and Millwall at home and a point from Wrexham - that was the disappointing one. We have been more than competitive against the top teams. Yes, mass defences have been a problem, but we’ve scored plenty of goals and are defensively ok. The start killed us. Better strikers? Yep, I’d love to see that, but you can only bring in what’s out there that wants to play for you at a price you can afford from a club willing to sell. If Ashton and McKenna have deliberately not looked for a striker then they’re to blame. But unless you have evidence to the contrary, I just don’t think that’s the case.

I think Hurst should have done better with a chance that just rolls off his boot late on. I know the ref blame is obvious and pretty deserved but to me, were equally as guilty of lacking clinical finishing. There were so many crosses and corners just lollipop'd into good areas that we were just ball watching.

The header is the one for me, I think if we score that then we easily win the game. I can see what he was trying to do but he really should have just nudged it into the top corner. Keeper wasn't getting there.

You'd expect at least one of the fine margins from the game - one of the penalty shouts, the block/deflection off Akpom, one of the goal mouth corner scrambles, one of O'Shea's free headers - to fall your way over the course of 90+ minutes. We can't blame luck entirely as we should have been more clinical but more often than not a game with the kind of stats we saw on Saturday and with two strong penalty shouts on top would have seen us win the game fairly comfortably. Which makes it all the more moronic that some mouth breathers are writing our season off on the back of that performance.

very suprised watching it back how specific he's trying to be with that header.. That close to goal just head it in, no needs to try so hard to get it down into the corner.. Of course had it gone in, we'd be saying what a header.. But it was such a simple goal

Lol, 'not promotion contenders'! wtaf!? Straight question: Are you a Norwich fan? A serious question, not a statement. If so, what does it feel like?

If they're all must win games as you say, I assume this means we'll only see you on here if/when we don't win.

Boro have faltered three times in their last five games. If every game is must win, you must think we need 97 points for promotion because that's where winning every game would take us. Personally I don't see Boro winning nine out of their last ten games to force us into needing to win all of ours.

Agree. Retroblue and others appear to have missed Boro spluttering over the last 5 games. Behind Coventry, we are still in promotion form and have been for the last 20+ games. [Post edited 9 Mar 15:21]

The odd reality (and it of course means zilch, but is an interesting observation) is that we are showing automatic promotion form right the way back for 34 games !!!!!
