I would've subbed Azòn straight after the first goal 13:06 - Mar 11 with 1217 viewscbower

Fouled or not, I really don't care. If he'd have got up straight away, not run towards the 4th official flinging his arms around like Magnus Pike ffs and pursued the player who had taken the ball like a real pro, there's half a chance they don't score. I for one am sick and tired of him going down so easily and then rolling around. Refs just don't like that nonsense and it generally results in many decisions going against him, some unfairly. Oh, and his finishing generally stinks too!

Well they don't like that nonsense until Stoke do it in the last minute but agree.

It was very poor from him, and not something you see in the game ever.I would think we may see a bit more if Hirst as he offered far more second half.

The only Muff in Town.

Think people are going way OTT on that incident to be honest. He probably is fouled and yeah he should be chasing back rather than arguing with the officials about it but there are a few other opportunities in that move afterwards to stop the ball going in the net which we don't deal with well.

He's been improving and has looked good over the last month or so while adding a couple of goals, but he's another one that for some reason people can't wait to stick the knife into. Some of our best moves in the match came with his heavy involvement but people want to fall back into the 'he only rolls around on the floor' narrative.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

He's a 23 year old who's only ever played for his home town club in his home country's league and he's just performing the way he's always played. He may learn that doesn't necessarily work over here.

Never forget that in April 2021, for ITFC, the Game Changed.

Was it any different to Lamine Cisse feeling a slight touch and going down to win a penalty? IMO there was more of a push on Ivan, the ref just did not give the freekick.

As I said, it may well have been a foul but he is doing himself no favours. Does he think remonstrating with touchline officials produces anything? Get up man, go get the bleeding ball back and stop the drama queen act.

He was fouled, it would have been a tad soft, but in the end it was more of a foul than the last minute penalty.

I can’t deny that I’m bloody annoyed by him being more interested in having a go at the fourth official than trying to get the ball back.

There a long list of mistakes and poor decisions from yesterday. Not sure Azon deserves singling out more than several others.

He and Hirst have both scored some important goals, whilst both have been frustrating at times and not quite been what we need. Not sure either stands out Vs the other.

Agree - Kipre's defending was woeful and that was the biggest issue.

Azon is frustrating because he does so much right (his movement, link up, knack for being in the right position) but his finishing and composure in/around the box is lacking too often.

Apart from the fact that he had a very good game last night, I think he was probably out of contention to get back by the time he was up and also (admittedly having not seen it back) it looked to me like he was fouled and has had a rough ride from refs.

In principle, yes, you get up and get on with it, but he was having a really good game (far and away superior to any other option we've got up there) so to take him off would have been feckn crazy, imho.

OK, I'll add Jack Clarke's first half performance to the naughty step so Azòn doesn't feel singled out

He's been doing it all season. I can't remember what game but one game he was rolling around on the floor like his leg had fallen off, not bothered about getting up and tracking back but as soon as we got the ball and attacked, he was straight up no questions asked.

If A freekick isn't given within a second, its not going to be given, especially without VAR. The fact he just got straight up and started running proves he wasn't really injured.

It is just the one last night, that one lead to a goal

I suspect that was probably Jack Taylor's sentiment to him when he lay in the corner clearly uninjured early in the second half. It was our time he was wasting.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

He's OK with his back to goal and holding the ball up and he has a deceptive turn of pace, but that's it. He goes down too easily and he's not especially clinical. Its a bit concerning we were apparently prepared to pay 10 million for him.

For me it's less about this specific incident, and more the fact that he has been doing this consistently all season, to the point where I'm convinced referees have clocked onto it and it has become counterproductive.

Unfortunately, Azon is prone to diving. When other teams players do this, we rightly call it cheating. He really isn’t a very good striker at all. His goal scoring record is very poor. It’s mid March and he’s scored four goals. Clearly not good enough.

25 goals in 144 apps as a CF in the Segunda Division - a league that is bottom Champ top half L1 at best - says it all

There are good players in the Segunda Division - Arribas at Almeria for example - but whoever scouted Azon and thought him good enough to fire us up to the PL in the Champ should be charged with gross negligence

It wasn't great but to be fair to the bloke up until this season, he'd played all his football in Spain where this happens all the time and a free kick is normally given. It's something we need to take into consideration when scouting in the future.

He's definitely improving, though and gives centre-backs a good workout - I think most of the league's centre-backs would favour defending against Hirst rather than him right now.
