To looking at the league table and convincing yourself it’s definitely not over and if Milwall are still in hunt for autos why aren’t we as we’ve got a game in hand on them and a better goal difference, and we still have to play them and Boro, and Milwall and Boro still have to play each other, and and three points for us Saturday should be a gimme, and Milwall might slip up v Blackburn, as could Boro v Bristol City. And, and…
This positive outlook will likely last right up until Boro’s fifth goal goes in tonight but where there’s hope there’s a way. COYB

Ha. Not quite there yet.
No way im putting myself through the misery of watching boro hump Charlton though.
Now I'm there!
My tactic of not watching or following the games last night worked. Pretty sure that whenever I watch boro in a game that ought to be tough they win, yet they struggle in games i don't watch.
I won't be watching from now on.
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.
Nope - much as I love ITFC & have done for iver half a century now (eek!), such emotions aren’t in my book for our league fate.
In any case, we’ve been far too inconsistent all season for me to have any real ‘expectations’, and I fear if we do go up, we’d experience a similar season to our previous one in the top flight, which was obviously not enjoyable, so am relatively ok with not going up while we work to become a better oiled, smoother, more reliable side in the Champ.

“Anger and despair”?

I know what you mean, however I have a nagging thought at the back of my mind that if we don't go up a) we may lose some of our better players in the summer, and b) the Championship will be stronger next season with 3 new parachute clubs, all of whom look stronger than the three that were relegated last season, plus the likes of Southampton arguably in a stronger position from the get go than they were this season (although we should be too).
That said, having calmed down from Tuesday evening and fresh from the euphoria of last night, I am very much in the "what will be will be" camp and determined to enjoy the rest of this season, whatever the outcome.

Could happen. They play us away, boro away and then Norwich at home.
After that their fixtures look pretty straightforward. Though as Boro showed last night, no fixture can be taken for granted
I bringing my mum's partner to the Millwall game, he lives this way now, but used to be a season ticket holder there.
When we discussed it, I thought, yeah, no worries, now with so much potentially on that game, could go badly lol! He's been told to sit on his hands and I might be leaving him in Ipswich if we don't win lol!
Going down to the last game IMO.

Honestly, look at Sunderland - they were bang average having got up through the play offs. I think they lost 5 straight games in the run in.
I think what happens in the off season with a promoted side is more important than whatever happened during the previous champ season - you can never prep for the Prem whilst not in it imo.
I do agree we have been far too inconsistent this season for me to be confident of top 2 but we have a chance. Definitely not going to worry about if we are good enough next season just yet.

Disappointed we didnt / cant secure these victories, yes in the moment, but bigger picture is there are three promotion places up for grabs.
To fixate on P1 or P2 is so finite, sure its best to go up automatically but the whole club with its fans should be buzzed up about securing promotion one way or another. Simply saying we are not good enough to demonstrate automatic form at the moment is defeatist.
However the season ends i would prefer we focus on a very strong finish rather than how we are doing against top 2 positions.
If the dodgy pen calls had been made correctly and if we'd stuck away the resulting pen, then we would now be in second place with 5 consecutive wins. We would be very confident not just because of being in second, but because of being in red hot, steamroller form.
If Kieran can convince the players that that's the form we're actually in, and give them confidence (while taming the defensive errors from the first half against Stoke and maybe working out a way to turn up in first halves) then we are not done yet.
It's so frustrating that we dominate and fail to score in first halves, but it's not solely an Ipswich disease - it happened to Boro last night, with 76% possession or thereabouts, 25 odd shots and no goals to show for it. We're all fallible.
But we're the ones who are the equivalent of 5 wins on the bounce (adjusted fpr PGMOL incompetence) and we're the ones who should be feared!
Or so I'm telling myself...
