Is this a recent announcement doubling-down on the announcement in the Spring Statement, or just a re-hash of the ten-day-old announcement?
The only recent coverage I can see is that Starmer's most recent comments have been to the extent that the decision will be kept under review.
On the basis that the plan was to reverse the 5p cut brought in as a result of the Ukraine situation in 2022, and there was no war in Iran at the time, I cannot see the issue here.
Likewise, I cannot see the issue with changing that decision should it become apparent that the Iran situation will have a longer-term impact on fuel prices, requiring intervention in line with the previous Ukraine-based intervention. |  |
