| Mcateer for millwall 10:31 - Mar 15 with 1547 views | FrimleyBlue | Watching back some of their highlights their 'weakness' is that outside run and balls across the box. Mehmeti and jayden also could be key.. pocket runs and being busy. Akpom might also realish it late on Johnson imo could be very busy. They've done a fair bit down their flanks. So we are going to need to be hot on that. | |

| Mcateer for millwall on 10:41 - Mar 15 with 1476 views | GlasgowBlue | Nit fur me. I posted this on another thread. With Wes looking likely to be out, Nunez injured and If Jaden isn’t ready to start against Millwall, I’d be tempted to play Akpom in the 10 with Mehmeti and Clarke on the flanks. | |

If Philogene can start that would be some attacking three with him - Clarke - Mehmeti Although leaves limited options from the bench. I think Millwall might come for a draw so Philogene could be key, even if it's off the bench.

Not really But if wes it out injured. Hes the only one we have who runs out wide. And also hes actually had a large number of chances created. So could be key.

| Mcateer for millwall on 10:53 - Mar 15 with 1420 views | StokieBlue | Just try and get some early goals. Philogene - Clarke - Mehmeti. Terrifying for defences if KM can get it to work. Whilst Clarke has definitely improved at the defensive side, Philogene still provides better cover. SB | | | |
| Mcateer for millwall on 11:23 - Mar 15 with 1306 views | RegencyBlue | I’d give him a go. A lot of people have written him off but Sindre isn’t cutting it and it looks like Burns might be injured. Clarke could be an option on the right but I don’t recall that working well at the start of the season when we tried it before. | | | |
| Mcateer for millwall on 11:26 - Mar 15 with 1280 views | grow_our_own | "Johnson imo could be very busy." - I think that's a euphemism for Azeez vs Johnson at left back could be an absolute horror show. Johnson is one of the worst one-on-one full-back defenders I've ever seen. Zero pace. I'm tempted to move Furlong to left back to counter the Azeez threat. Millwall will be a different prospect to the team we faced on Boxing Day. Bitter Mr Busby will have popcorn at the ready. | | | |
| Mcateer for millwall on 11:39 - Mar 15 with 1204 views | PrideOfTheEast | We played McAteer on Boxing Day and he wasted several opportunities that Burns would have taken advantage of. If Philogene is fit I’d start Clarke on the right hand side assuming Burns is out. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| Mcateer for millwall on 16:07 - Mar 15 with 851 views | ParisBlue | It's all a bit strange, 8 league starts and 12 sub appearances for a big money signing (though mentioned to be less than the £12m reported). At 24 he's no kid and in theory has all the attributes - speed, strength, height. There's been signs such as his cameo at Derby and he would have more assists with more competent forwards. If he does get a chance vs Millwall I'd love to see him take it. | |

Has Furlong ever played at left back? I understand your thinking of he has.

I think some just like to criticise whoever is playing and then complain that McKenna isn't playing someone else instead. The amount of grief given to both Walle Egeli and McAteer has been excessive. Neither has had the impact of Clarke nor Philogene. Then again neither did Clarke nor Philogene last season!

Not at all. Its seeing as I said in the op that a weakness of millwall seems to be wingers who get passed their lb and gets the ball into the box. If wes was available id be saying wes. Clarkes the other alternative but he tends to tuck in even when playing on right and Johnson will be playing lb.

He had another almost-assist at Stoke. Put in a lovely cross which Davis couldn’t quite convert. I’d start him v Milwall.

Risky, considering he started at Millwall and was awful. Much like his performances during the majority of his starts. He has a role from the bench, and maybe he's worth a risk next Saturday. But his better performances this season have been from the bench - though, admittedly, the same can be said of both Egeli and, IMO, Clarke.

Don't know. I do know Johnson isn't a defensive full-back on either side. Not against pace. Wild, but considering around half Millwall's goals come through Azeez, it's almost worth man-marking him. Stick McAteer at left-back and tell him to play within Azeez' shorts the whole game (fnar). [Post edited 15 Mar 17:51]

Isn't that just the impact of finishers vs starters? Hence why it is consistent for each of them!

McAteers underlying stats are good, and he creates a high volume of high quality chances - in fact a couple of months ago when he was getting more minutes, he was one of the best in the division. He's not for blame for others not taking these (sometimes gilt edged) chances. But some people just have it in for him, and cannot be objective about it.
