RIP Dolores

Dolores O’Riordan, the unforgettable voice of The Cranberries, leaves a legacy of haunting beauty and emotional honesty. She brought vulnerability, strength, and originality to her songwriting which touched millions around the world. Her music continues to inspire, comfort, resonate and more often than not, leaves me blubbing.

Saw them at Hammersmith back in the day. One of the best gigs I’ve ever been to.

Yes. Mike Scott, the only ever present member of the band since their inception in the early 80s, was a proud Scot.
During the mid 80s, inspired by Irish Celtic folk, he relocated to Ireland.
During that time he wrote and compiled the Fisherman's Blues album.

Regarding Baba O'Riley, the title is a contraction of Pete Townshend's spiritual guru Meher Baba and avant guard composer Terry Riley.
The O was added later as it sounded better that Baba Riley.

There is very little Irish influence on The Who's music, although a bodrum does feature on the Quadrophenia track "I've had enough".

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.
