Its quite clearly a collective feck up, yes someone needs to take some accountability for it, but some people don't seem content unless someone's losing their livelihood over every cock up. I think there are more tangible and helpful ways to react tbh.

This relatively new trend over the past few years where people protest and campaign for someone to lose their job after making a mistake is really strange. People seem to get a high from seeing other people failing. Really odd behaviour.

Quite. I'm all for accountability, but it seems nowadays people are desperate to see people fired and hung out to dry or true 'justice' wont have been served. I'd love to be like these people who have never made a mistake, life must be brilliant.

The whole thing has seen a massive overreaction IMO. Yes it was probably a bit stupid, but then I'm not into politics so don't see what all the fuss is about.

disagree entirely. Most people in large, very visible, organisations would be gone over this. Or at least somebody senior would be gone. Spent the last c. 20 years of my life in large, publicly listed banks - I would have been gone by today if I used my professional platform to promote any political party. Somebody senior, even if not Nash, needs to be booted for this. [Post edited 24 Mar 16:14]

There will be a lot of factors that won't be known to you or I. Like how these individuals are performing in their roles more broadly, what process was or wasn't followed, whether or not this decision was escalated appropriately etc. The nuance and circumstances are very relevant, as they would be in any organisation when establishing accountability. I'm sure we can agree its a massive PR cock up, there's no doubt about that, but I don't think anyone is armed with enough fact to be creating threads on a public forum along the lines of 'bye bye XXX' and name dropping individuals. Its really not fair on a human level as much as anything else, especially in the absence of the facts.

Nah fck him. Nobody else on a privately purchased tour of the stadium would be greeted by the head of comms would they. Just emailed Ashton and told him what I think. Him and Nash should fck off if it's how it looks and it looks pretty bad tbh.

They do. I don’t understand it. Have these people ever made a mistake or misjudged something? Those that haven’t are pathetic people who have never done anything. Little people who feel bigger because others fail. Are they the ones to look that person in the eye and tell them to clear out? Doubt it. And if they did, how did they feel?. I have had to do it in the past and it gave me no pleasure whatsoever.

So with the downvote I presume you’ve fired people and enjoyed it? Got a bit of a buzz did you? Some do. I’ve seen it. Bit like violence. I’ve met many people who really enjoy dishing that out too but many more heroes that like watching it from the sidelines. Are you one of these people?

What are on earth are you talking about man? If you make a monumental cock up in any job there's a high likelihood you're going to get fired. If you don't like it then don't take a job in the private sector - and certainly don't so stupid as to roll out the red carpet for, if not a racist, then at least somebody who is deeply polarising to say the least.

I think I’ve made it perfectly clear what I’m talking about ‘man’. They hired a room out to a political party. They’ve explained their position and I’ve explained my view on the club, Reform, politicians and where I think the club is and should be on this. I think it an over reaction to fire anyone over this unless a particular process they have was ignored - and there’s no evidence for that. It’s about learning from things. The red carpet was rolled out by Farage from what I can see. I don’t think there’s much more to it than that. And I’ve worked in the private sector thanks and the public sector too. I’ve worked for large and small companies. I’ve personally seen people off the premises, watched somebody told to f off and to sue for their statutory rights so you are a little late lecturing me re taking or not taking a job in the private sector. Did I enjoy that side? Firing or disciplining people? No. Sometimes it has to be done but it’s a serious business, not for throwaway spit flying red faced rage on a keyboard, in my opinion.

"On Tuesday morning, Ipswich told The Athletic that Farage, 61, had not been formally invited to the stadium and that no club official was present to greet him. The Athletic, however, has seen evidence that the invitation to Reform and Farage was extended by an associate of a senior club official." And also: "But evidence provided by a Reform source contradicts (the official) version. The Athletic has seen a message sent by an associate of a senior club figure to a Reform official asking for a meeting with Farage during his visit to the town." Whoever extended or facilitated that invitation has seriously damaged the clubs reputation. They should be facing serious ramifications.

Marcus Nash, as Communications Director, either was himself this "senior club official" or was oblivious to the club making this invitation. He's either directly responsible or negligent in his job. Either way, get out of our club! [Post edited 24 Mar 18:56]

Agree with it being a ‘collective feck up’ but who the hell are these people?? Professionals who work in media comms who couldn’t see what an absolute shĩtstorm this would turn into? It’s not necessarily the act that should mean they lose their jobs, but the fact that they’re clearly incompetent
