| Bye bye Marcus Nash (n/t) on 15:54 - Mar 24 by _CliveBaker_ | I don't think this baying for blood is a particularly good look. Its quite clearly a collective feck up, yes someone needs to take some accountability for it, but some people don't seem content unless someone's losing their livelihood over every cock up. I think there are more tangible and helpful ways to react tbh. |
Well that accountability usually goes to the person at the top of the pyramid...Remains to be seen if Mr Teflon is held to account.

I assume you mean the official club statement. Would be interesting to hear from the man himself. Or maybe even Mark Ashton...

Worse than that - he'll have to go and watch Norwich for a season.

I would assume the comments were very much tongue-in-cheek, but it must be a good life that is unaffected by whoever is in power to the degree it matters so little to them.

Obviously whoever is in power affects everyone. But unless someone is going to stand for election, they can't control who is in power other than putting their tick in a box. So basically you can't control who is in government or what they are going to do with that power. That's why personally I'm not interested in politics.

It's not simply a matter of who's in power though is it? Opposition parties and big personalities like Fuhrage create the narrative. They have their own agenda, they turn their narrow hateful views into debates and lie, deceive and obscure facts to persuade the gullible. That's why it is so wrong to give a platform to these people, certainly in a high profile football club, and why now politics has become entangled in our football club. Whoever decided that was a good idea needs to own the mistake, fess up and take whatever medicine is necessary.

And who always ends up holding the can at the end? The PR who said not to do it. Until we know what went on, I'd be reluctant to blame one person (unless it's the person at the top, where the buck should ultimately lie)

I think that's all we'll hear from the club until the next fans forum. When will that be? KM will probably be asked about it next week but he'll rightfully bat it away.

Think you're right. No way KMs getting involved publicly. "I'm not thinking about that, my job is to focus on the football" is what we'll get.

Its a shame that KM will bat it away I think, understandable as it is. As far as managers go, he has a pretty strong position and if he came out, even lightly pushing back on it, it would be a great message.

Yeah the last thing we want is KM or the players getting involved, but the problem is that it's now the number one question any decent journalist will ask. That's part of the reason it's such a huge f*** up - it has now gone much further than just the people who were actually involved with it.

By sacking Mark Ashton, more for wasting £250 million, paying our manager more than Barcelona, AND completely destroying our brand equity and commercial value, and ENTIRE CLUB for political dogma. If you don’t think reducing our proud club to rubble is a sacking offence, then I’d love to work for you - shall we do tea and biscuits all day, or biscuits and tea before setting fire to the building?? Seriously. What the actual feck! .., th complete apathy towards our values and we stand for, it blows my mind. Mark will (try to) find a scapegoat, his career depends on it, but it’s obvious where the issues are, his love from Nige shirt was a small clue. You might need to stand up for those values one day, if you want to keep them!! Maybe today?

I don't normally bother reading your nonsense but this was a mercifully short one for you. Our proud club has been reduced to rubble has it? I'd hate to hear what you think about Sheffield Wednesday if that's the case.

He's either directly responsible or negligent in his job. Either way, get out of our club! [Post edited 24 Mar 18:56]

Again, you've changed "senior club figure" to "official". Why?

Spent the last c. 20 years of my life in large, publicly listed banks - I would have been gone by today if I used my professional platform to promote any political party. Somebody senior, even if not Nash, needs to be booted for this. [Post edited 24 Mar 16:14]

You can bow to whoever whoever you like! But there are a multitude of posters on here who all think you're dead wrong on this and I’m pretty sure not all of them — if any — work in or have worked for banks. Moreover, the people on your side of the argument are the likes of Waveney Blue and a number of posters who’ve been banned in the last few days… So think what you like — I’m very comfortable with both my profession and my moral compass. However, given you have no issue with a guy who’s given us the below (among many others) being invited into our football club, I’m not sure we can say the same for your moral compass, sadly. https://hyperallergic.com/uk-p

Where did you get that I have no issue with Farage being in our football club? What I've posted in this thread - and have agreed with from others - is that it's a bit unseemly to be demanding sackings (especially without knowing the full details). I 100% stand by that. And I 100% stand by I won't be lectured to on morals from a banker.

Depends what "Comms Director" at ITFC actually means in practice. If it's a dressed-up job title for a minimum wage dog's body, then perhaps. ITFC isn't a huge org. But at the enterprises I've worked in, CD would have had a say in this kind of matter. Might be overruled by the C-suite, but would still have had a say. If he promoted this publicity junket, or marched Phil and the media up a hill on a lie, then his position is untenable. Even if he failed to voice his concern, he'd be negligent.
