Received a fair chunk of abuse tonight in the replies from this post: Also see that the Rainbow Tractors group have been forced into making their account private because of the stuff coming their way.

They've suffered so long from Nigel and his mates keeping them really angry about things that many of them have forgotten how to behave, or any recognition of how others should. Standards in public life were trashed by Boris, their favourite comedian. Why on earth would anybody have to resign now for lying to the press and the public any more? Particularly when it relates to Nige? Thank goodness some of us still believe in honesty and integrity.

Im still on Facebook, as its a way of keeping in touch with old friends I'd probably lose touch with otherwise. I left twitter a couple of years ago as couldn't in good conscience stay on there. On Bluesky, which is obviously a massive lefty bumfest, but it's quite nice tbh.

I've got a Bluesky account but I don't spend much time on there. I think breaking the Twitter and Facebook habit means I'm not that interested in social media now, but I usually have a quick look at Bluesky in the evening to catch up on news. It's nice not being on social media, definitely don't miss it.

| The reform supporter/bot brigade on 07:42 - Mar 27 with 1381 views | ChelmsfordBlue86 | It’s what Farage does and he would have known full well what the repercussions of this would have been. Whether you are left, centre or right anyone with half a brain could have predicted the fall out and that is exactly why this is such an incompetent decision for Ashton to have made that will tarnish a lot of the amazing things he has done to help our club. Said in another post, but there is still a huge chance for the club to rescue this situation and come out of it well, but that will involve removing Ashton from his positions asap and showing that we are indeed apolitical and would definitely bring all involved with the club together. Even those of a Farage persuasion must be able to see what a calamitous decision this was from Ashton in terms of the infighting that it has caused. So, so unnecessary. | | | |
| The reform supporter/bot brigade on 07:53 - Mar 27 with 1293 views | Devereuxxx | Did a post on Tuesday when this all came out, got a fair amount more engagement than my usual Town posts, few thousands of views and likes. There were over 400 comments, and my word it was just wall to wall dogs abuse. Think of the most creative and brutal way you'd insult your worst enemy, double it, and you might be close. Unfortunately, part of the discourse nowadays is that a certain part of the political spectrum interprets 'free speech' as 'I can say whatever I want with no consequences', aided and abetted by the Muskification of social media. All you can do is ignore it and not stoop to their level, no point trying to engage with it. Would be easier to explain the concept of Norway to a golden retriever than try and engage in political debate with those willing to use that level of abuse. | | | |

Imagine, Ashton gone, a rousing rendition of that anti racist song from back in the day on the terraces, McKenna, players and fans united, Birmingham battered 3-0. An unstoppable march to promotion as Ashton cries into his coffee mug.

Hmm, I’d say there’s a marked difference in style between rommer’s tweet in the op and basically your regular trolling on here solely about politics, onceablue. I’ve said before, I quite enjoy your shithousery on here, but it’s not for everyone and you do cop some grief for it. But Rommers isn’t trolling.

It is not right that anyone should receive abuse for their views at all, but where in Romfords post does he actually criticise Farage or his politics? He doesn’t. It’s the senseless decision by Ashton to bring this situation onto the club because of the way he has handled it. He could have invited Farage and had a behind closed doors meeting with him, no real problem. He could have met him offsite somewhere for a bit of lunch, no problem. I’m inviting him to the club, donating shirts, allowing cameras all access for inevitable promotion is a disgrace. Football clubs are for community, ours is supported and loved by thousands all with different views, in hosting Farage on Monday of course this was going to be the outcome. If a landlord or landlady of a pub wished to host Farage then that’s his absolute right, he can nail his colours to the mast as they own the pub and they can do as they wish. You don’t do that with a football club, we are not owned by Mark Ashton. [Post edited 27 Mar 8:13]

By insisting Ashton resigns because he met Farage of course is a criticism of Farage. Would he be asking Ashton to resign if he had met Keir Starmer

I think this one has done multiple times. If he’d met him, denied it, lied about it, doubled down on it, etc etc, then yes.

Had he just met starmer away from the club? No? Had he met Farage away from the club? Still no. Inviting Farage to the club and allowing it to be used as a propaganda tool? Absolutely. And had he let Starmer or any other person in power use us, I’d feel the same. The lies and the cover up thereafter mean he should go
