So if Southampton get through the semi finals are 25/26 which is the weekend before we play them - Could be useful.

Apologies I should have read the entire thread!

If they face the winner of West Ham/Leeds or even Chelsea it could be a winnable tie for them too.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?

They'll fancy themselves to win 7/7 from their run-in, so a couple of distractions and extra games would certainly be helpful.

That's what I was thinking, but Blackburn wouldn't be happy as their following game would be on the Friday, and would sky allow it, as it has been so selected for tv

Tuesday to Friday is no different in terms of gap to Saturday and Tuesday.

The SF would be the weekend before they play us. Hopefully they’re in it, and run themselves into the ground..

Didn't Coventry have an FA Cup semi final the weekend before they played us in 24? Could history repeat?

Not quite - there was a nine day gap, and another league game, between the FA Cup semi final and playing us.

We don't really want to be facing Saints in the Play Offs do we.

Right. But they definitely ran out of steam before playing us because of their cup run.

Absolutely not. Very good side indeed.

That's the best performance I've seen by a Championship side this season, thought they were brilliant. Here's hoping they run out of steam by the time we have to go there.

Yes, their form was beginning to tail off before the played Manchester United in the FA Cup Semi Final, where they were unlucky, and then they were dreadful after it as well.

They were actually in a similar league position to Southampton at the time of the quarter finals - seventh.

I can’t imagine they’ll take their eyes off the league.

Promotion to the PL financially outweighs FA Cup progress.

Controversial and utterly ridiculous, but maybe they actually fancy taking on both challenges, because winning games generates momentum and confidence, especially when you go toe to toe with a top PL team and deservedly beat them in front of a packed house.

Compare that to our rather clinical and joyless approach to the Wrexham cup tie, which many on here were happy we sacrificed in order to fully concentrate on the bigger prize.

The same people who are now hoping we don’t have to face Southampton in the play offs.

I guess only the next few weeks will determine which approach was tactically and financially the wiser move, given that they were a far bigger embarrassment than us last season as well as a comfort blanket for abject failure….

Hey everyone, some perspective needed, at least we aren’t as bad as Southampton..

The replica kit marks the 50th Anniversary of their FA Cup win against Man Utd.

Nothing to celebrate, it was that win that kept us out of Europe in 76-77’.
