Clement: "I'm a fan of VAR" 14:58 - Apr 11 with 820 viewstonybied

It's funny how much noise managers make about VAR when a decision goes against them, but claim things are evened out over a season, if they get lucky with one!

Fairly sure it would still have been a penalty with VAR. No way you could reverse on field decision.

Might have been soft but it was either an elbow to the chest or a kick to the chest. Wouldn't have been reversed by VAR.

Norwich won't be having to think about VAR for a while I'd imagine. In any case, it would have made no difference today. Penalty wouldn't get overturned as he catches Taylor on the follow through, albeit it's very, very soft, and the potential red cards in the game - including a couple for them I might add - were all second yellows which don't get looked at by VAR.

It was a high boot(that did make contact by the way) and would have been given anywhere else on the pitch. Given by the lino as he had a clear line of sight of it. No problems with a penalty being given....

Indeed.

It is more reminiscent of one of those that we were moaning about VAR awarding when the ref didn't.

A comment like that is enough to confirm what sort of bloke he is. Numpty.

Technically, it was a foul on Taylor & it would have been given as such anywhere else on the pitch, if the ref had seen it. We were lucky the lino saw it & therefore the ref didn't have the chance to introduce the higher bar that most use for awarding penalty kicks.
Our biggest risk was that the card happy ref would have sent one of our players off, but he bottled it with headless chicken Nunez.

Maybe there is some truth about things evening up during a season.
Don't know whether we have any credit left in the bank now. But it was obvious we were robbed of four points a few games ago where pens for and against went the wrong way.
However you view these three points they were massive. One more game chalked off and whilst by no means second place assured if we contrive to throw this chance away it will only be our fault.
When Sir Bobby's team lost out to Villa injuries denied us the league.
It looks like with Nunez and Philogene back and Matisuwa getting over the dead leg that Burns apart we have almost a full squad to choose from.
A bright idea from KM to put Johnson in the team as well as Davis.
We may need a few more performances like this before the end of this season and it does appear we may have changed tack over the last few games. I'd rather we be totally boring now and just get the necessary results.

Doesn't get turned around in a million years. It was a pen. Taylor made the most of it but nicks the ball and is then clearly fouled. Your classic anywhere on the pitchits a foul and zero debate. So no, VAR would never ever turn it around. It was the correct decision if slightly soft and unlucky.

It was an interesting quote because it effectively meant he was acknowledging their season was over and the result didn't really matter to them.

I agree with that, which is a shame really, it would have been even sweeter if it was a clearly dodgy decision.

He doesnt have experience of VAR in England. He might change his mind in the unlikely event he gets to experience it.
