McKenna / Bournemouth 22:52 - Apr 14 with 1775 viewsDublinBlue84

Judging from his comments, he's not exactly distancing himself from it is he?

The way to stop the speculation is simple. He's not done it so it will continue.

You mean when he had interviews and second interviews with Palace, Brighton and Chelsea?

Definitely didn't sound like a man who wanted to deter Bournemouth's interest.

Are Bournemouth genuinely going to be interested in him? He can’t get his teams to play more than 3 decent games on the bounce, in fact we’ve barely strung together two good halves of football this season. There’s absolutely zero chance of a PL team wanting KM. ZERO.

But initially he gave us the same answers ….not the time to think or worry about Bournemouth links .

He’ll be leaving at the end of the season regardless.

With the way this ‘rebuild’ has unfolded, the disaster transfer windows, the inconsistent performances, he’ll be thinking it’s probably the right time to make the next step in his journey to a club ahead of us. You can’t blame him for that.

Will be a massive overhaul in the summer, hopefully from the CEO through to half the playing squad.

He’s going to go one day . No point worrying about it.

The worst case scenario is we don't go up and he leaves.

He wither wants to see the project through here or he doesn't. After the last few weeks of chaos at the wrong time of the season, and the continued failings of the recruitment team, he may have decided he will struggle to be successful here next season. So it is really down to the CEO to a) sort recruitment and b) ensure we have another manager lined up. Hopefully if he is off, they have already agreed it behind the scenes and succession planning has started.

Poll: If we sing for 90 mins for all remaining games, how many points is it worth?

Although people don’t like to hear it on here, McKennas record in the PL was very poor. Frankly, despite being second in an extremely poor championship, there has been some dire performances this season. Particularly away from home. At least ten. Is that what an established PL club want? And pay £5M for the privilege?

He’s not top of Bournemouth’s wanted list. Marco Rose and Edin Terzic are ahead of him.

I think Bournemouth will appoint from abroad.

Any manager with a tad of awareness would say precisely what he said. Ruling oneself out is a mug's game when modern owners are so twitchy and financially aware. Managers only definitely rule themselves out if they would not want the perspective job under discussion under any circumstances. Measuring the intensity of a manager's setting aside of speculation is a nil sum game.

Re: recruitment, there's also Ashton having thrown him under the bus for the club's failure to sign a No9 in January.

His comment along the lines of 'the recruitment team identified targets, but KMc didn't want any of them' were purely designed to deflect blame away from him for the failure to land a decent striker for the fourth window running.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

He'll go because as much as Ipswich has been a great platform for him, there still isn't the infrastructure in place to support his work that he'll get at a Bournemouth type established PL club.

The shocking recruitment and probably Farage gate will have made up his mind if he wasn't sure before, I doubt he trusts Ashtons decision making.

If he manages to ge us over the line he leaves with a great legacy having turned this club around and we are hopefully left in a great position to kick on.

I hope you are correct , and think you are, regardless if we go up or not. I have said it before, I think it's just gone a bit stale. A nice amicable ending and on to the next chapter.

I dont really care to speculate about the summer and beyond until its here, then its open season and lots to reflect on however the season plays out. Right now, there are automatic or play offs to compete for a place in the PL. I dont feel stale about that, sure some football and results have not been as exciting as recent times but once again the cash we access in the event of a promotion allows this crazy journey to continue and for the club to keep chipping away at the bigger future.

Focus.

I have reservations about McKenna staying with us. I love the fella and think he is great and has done great things for ITFC.
Where I believe a change might be good is maybe the fact that a different manager would have different ideas and maybe want different personnel in the squad.
When you have been put through the likes of Tottenham, Chelsea and Man Utd maybe you are blinkered to a certain style and a certain type of player and as we see some of the squad haven't adapted very well.

You are actively hoping McKenna leaves?
