Normally this time of year when it comes to ST's he does interviews talking about the reasoning's, benefits, future plans etc.

But he has been completely absent, he's all over the media when there is good news or projects being done, but nothing.

Just looks to me like someone who is happy to take the plaudits when things go well, but doesn't have the gravtias to front up when difficult conversations are needed.

What's happened to the Early Bird offer? has that been kyboshed along with points in the club shop that suddenly disappeared.

If he does get canned, mutually agreed or otherwise, he’ll spend the rest of his life wondering why he threw away the best job he ever had, that paid him millions, that allowed him to personally shape and oversee the future of a top 25 club in England, all for a five minute lunch with a shameless grifter charlatan.

I think a lot of the fans will be left wondering that as well.

I know many derided his occasionally bombastic business-speak style, but nothing I can see in his admin background (club-community involvement, inclusivity, promoting women's football), or his evident passion in the role gives pointers towards Ashton being a die-hard Faragist prepared to sacrifice everything for the cause.

It just seems like a really weird thing firstly to do, then to attempt - badly - to cover up. Doesn't mesh with his efficiency, either (which he normally is, by all evidence ITFC is a tightly run ship).

The only conclusion I can come to is that he is clearly a Reform supporter, and his ego led him to believe that he could treat the club as though it is his and he could host who he pleased.

Got starstruck is my guess. Thought he could hobnob with someone famous and powerful and got carried away. That, or he’s got fascist tendencies and is a reform type and can get f@&ked as far as I’m concerned.

To be fair no one should be basing their ST renewal on what division we are in.

Not sure I agree with this.

I'm not talking about fan loyalty, but if we're not promoted there will be plenty of match tickets available next season for those who can't attend every match.

The whole thing has been incredibly 'effort free' compared to previous seasons. No brochure, no comment/sales pitch from Ashton/McKenna, no pithy slogan. Just a price list and a four-day deadline.

I suppose they could have gone for something like #GiveUsYourF***ingMoney, or #REWARDINGourselvesforyourLOYALTY?

I think that's likely. He's always been desperate to stick his tongue up the arse of anyone with a bit of celebrity.

Yeah, talk about being taken for granted.

It feels a bit like when you get your council tax demand through the post, although at least they attempt to explain what the money is being spent on.

Maybe, but it seems an odd choice of famous and powerful person to hobnob with.

Then there's the ham-fistedness of allowing the photo-op, the initial denial and the half-apology. If he'd come straight out and said discussions were held over lunch with Reform about the Football Regulator (edit: which is what Reform themselves have said), there would have been half the fuss. Still many people not impressed, but less rage over the attempted duping of the fans.

It just seems very out of character. The fallings-out with Watford and Bristol were about a salary dispute, overpayment on poor transfers and a managerial appointment which didn't work out. Nothing like this.

All very odd. Perhaps he is a Faragist who's managed to hide it well up to this point?

I am reminded of the scene from the Office when a tearful Brent is begging for Neil to not make him redundant.

Who really cares, it was always just a storm in a tea cup event , outrage by a few and a shoulder shrug by the majority .
In all honesty it has died a death after 2 weeks just as I predicted.

We shall see on that. It has changed the way many people view the Chairman/CEO. Which will affect how the club interfaces with fans.

Far from it, the next instalment won't hit before the end of the season but I would be very, very surprised to see Mr Ashton still in situ in August.

He certainly won't be the face of the Club again, that's for sure, it's doing the opposite of dying a death.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Except it hasn’t. Lots of people care some very powerful/invested in the club. Just because you couldn’t give a toss, dismissing those that do and care about the club not just the results doesn’t make you Nostradamus.

Gamechanger moving into the 'rinsing phase' of their ownership?

They've taken the club from nowhere to sell outs most weeks, home and away, record shirt sales and brought a feelgood factor to Portman Road.

Now it's time to make some serious cash.
