| Midfield for Sunday 09:17 - Apr 18 with 1071 views | Mullet | We started with Cajuste and Matusiwa at Boro. I thought Taylor was good at Norwich beyond the usual rough edges, and Neil has continued to disappoint me. Seems obvious, it will be Matusiwa and Taylor and Nunez in the 10, but I wonder if we'd be too weak putting Nunez back and swithcing the 10? We seem fixated on Hackney, but Boro should be wary of the threat we possess too. It might be bold starting Clarke in the middle and Philogene on the left, but I think if we grab an early lead we won't let them back in the game. I wonder if we start as strong/attacking as possible and then make subs to see out the final half an hour. | |

Much as I like Nunez I would start with Mehmeti. Agree Taylor to start in midfield.

I think Boro will come at us a bit and I fancy Nunez's distribution on the break to be useful. But would have no issue at all with it being Mehmeti, hopefully would indicate a desire to get on top early and dominate Boro.

I know over the season Nunez has been very effective but last few matches just seems a little off it. Philogene should start on the left ahead of Clarke, I think offers more defensively and just as much going forward. I assume the CM's will be Azor and Taylor. SB

The 10 is a bit of a conundrum for me at the moment. Nunez hasn't looked particularly sharp since returning from injury. Having said that, Mehmeti hasn't looked as dangerous recently as he did when we first signed him, possibly having played too much when Nunez was out. On balance, I'm minded to go with Nunez on the basis that he should only improve as he gains match fitness. Being able to bring on a buzzing Mehmeti against tired opponents with 30 minutes to go is quite something. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Was going to say the same thing - both of our tens seem ineffective. If Neil was in form, I'd toy with the idea of pushing Taylor into the ten position for a higher press, and the ability to switch to a three or pull him back if required. Nunez is incapable of that role, at least currently, no matter how many times we try it. Logic would say return to the Norwich XI but the thing missing on Tuesday was heart, passion, fight. Doesn't matter who we pick, if that's missing we're done for anyway.

Depends how much space we get. Mehmeti is good in the tight areas, Nunez more so on the break. Tho it's not decisive, they're both pretty good at the opposite discipline, too.

Both our 10s arent even 10s and the 10s we purchased were shadow strikers too Been a bit of a nightmare in that position really Nunez gives you that passing ability. But hes got to be on it to be effective Mehmeti gives you that ball carrying but then again hes got to be on it be effective at that and also remember there are team mates around.

Hoping Matusiwa is back to 100% and I thought Mehmeti looks like the step up here is catching up with him, looked tired and a bit aimless to me lately. You'd love to think we just name our team and let others worry, but that doesn't seem the way this season.

Agree, clearly not fit, just pray he's ready for tomorrow, if the thigh strapping/sleeve is still on I'll be a bit worried, need Taylor alongside him for energy and bite because expecting both teams to press with little space..
