I agree. Chelsea can be a player's graveyard - he'd have been better off going practically anywhere else. In truth, a year in the Championship would have probably helped him. |  |

He picked the wrong club. He needed to go somewhere he would be number one choice, leading the line week in week out, or at least as much as anyone does in modern football. Somewhere like Palace, Forest or Everton. Even Man Utd. But Chelsea he was always likely to be pushed to the fringes, even without the injury issues he's had. | |

I sometimes think it is unfair how a player is viewed when like Delap he isn't maybe having a great season. He got injured shortly after joining Chelsea and just like players we have currently you do wonder why he was bought or as in our case on loan when they don't fit in to the type of play that a side is set up to play.
Just like Hirst he was brought to Town as a hold up player. Hold the ball and bring other forwards into play.
You can see this running through many sides where players are brought in, but have no place due to the style.
I remember Johnny Wark going to Liverpool and because Souness was central midfield he was never quite the player as he was for Town.
I think the management has to be questioned when players like say Akpom are brought in and have no place in a team. That doesn't just apply to us of course it runs throughout football and the costs are high having a player whether on loan or bought that is of no use. | | | |

Low block opposition V’s using his pace and power with space.
He needed to be in a team that don’t have all the ball to use his qualities better. Poor talent ID, needs a season or two at a mid table side to develop and play more on the counter.
He was immense at getting us up the pitch and when teams aren’t set he creates havoc.
That hasn’t changed. Slow build up, inverted wingers. Low block defences, doesn’t really seem to suit him. Makes me think he’d have had his frustrations with us this season too.
Would be a great loan if we go up!! He still has the attributes. Good player, needs the right environment. | | | |

Can you define "not really a Premier League player" please?
I thought he looked every bit a Premier League player when I watched him in a team that very much wasn't a Premier League team.
Why would any Premier League player be expected to stand out as Chelsea's best forward in their first season with them and only their second at that level? Maybe some fans expected him to be their best player even after signing Joao Pedro and getting injured, but I don't think most people did. He is a regular squad player who has contributed across the season and probably had no more ordinary performances than Haaland has this season. Then again, Keane thinks he is no more than a League 1 standard doesn't he? |  |
