| Ben Johnson back on the right wing? 11:09 - Apr 22 with 1346 views | kizaitfc | Got a feeling KM will revert back to using him on the wing given how well it worked against Norwich, allows Furlong to sit in and keep it solid at the back, gives a bit of extra height and a decent delivery. Hopefully Burns is on his way back and will play a part in the run as I think he is extremely important to the balance of the side. I think priority next year should be to have a back up / improvement on Burns. I think that was the plan with McAteer this year but he just hasnt been up to it physically, despite the important goals. | |

Of course, we need to do the basics at the back, but we're going to be having 70% possession tonight and the match will be largely played in their half. Johnson at right wing doesn't cut it for me in that scenario.
| Ben Johnson back on the right wing? on 11:14 - Apr 22 with 1294 views | Freddies_Ears | Given the utter beauty of McAteer's goal v Boro, I'd keep the same right side. | | | |
| Ben Johnson back on the right wing? on 11:18 - Apr 22 with 1268 views | TheGentlemanViking | Jones tends to play a flat 3 with wing backs, we're going to need more attacking input than defensive solidity. We should have a lot of the ball and will need as much cutting edge as we can muster, BJ was great against Norwich but KM or SWE will surely get the shout tonight. | | | |

My concern is that we do indeed camp out in their area and find ourselves being hit on the break. The key, I suppose, is to ensure that we score when we're on top. Twas ever thus. That being the case, I suppose we trust McAteer, who has been much improved the last couple of games in my view, and of course did find the net in our last game (in stylish fashion). A skill which has become much underrated.

I'd go with Philogene rather than Clarke. Clarke is a far better substitute than Philogene imo. If Philogene doesn't start I don't think he offers much to the team whereas Clarke can pick up the pace of a game as soon as he comes on.

I'm just working on the basis of them alternating their starts as they have for the last 5 games since JP came back.

It has always been best when Clarke takes over from Philogene at around 60-70 minutes. But Philogene hasn't for whatever reason been good away from home. Philogene normally tracks back better than Clarke although he didn't against Boro. Clarke does appear currently in better form than Philogene. The pen against Norwich apart he hasn't shown the same form as when getting a hatrick earlier in the season and they beaut against the Budgies at home. I think there's also a bit of a conundrum regarding whether Memeti or Nunez plays. No doubt Nunez is the better creator of the two and Memeti is more direct. But neither are pulling up trees at the moment. Then you have Azon v Hirst. Azon holds the ball up better and statistics show that Hirst is the better goalscorer. If fit do you have Burns or McAteer start ? Burns will lack match fitness and McAteer has been pretty good the last few games. No doubt some of the choices we make will be wrong. McAteer went off injured so who knows it may even be Egeli who starts. Whoever plays where they need to be on their game for 90+ minutes. Not one half or the others. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I don't think this is a game to have a more defensive RW in front of an already fairly defensive RB - maybe against Saints.
