Barnsley vibes all over it. One thing is for sure, it's going to be a great game. Over 2.5 goals just under EVS is the bet for moi. Point does nothing for both sides so I think we'll see each team going at it, just like we did at Hull a few years ago.

Agree. Will be basketball time... We tend to rise to those occasions. I will be most pleased for KM if we do it. A modern day legend.

Obviously S’ton are on a roll, but we’ve got the quality to hurt anyone if we’re on it. This is definitely one where we can’t afford to miss many chances though. It needs to be a Norwich level performance in both being clinical when we get the chance and fully focused defensively. Do that and we could well get 3 points.

We'll either win easily tomorrow or draw both games, and finish third! I oddly think if we beat either Southampton or QPR, it with be Saints' just because that's the one you wouldn't expect us to win. It's been that way all season, we have thumped Coventry twice but we've also been hammered by Charlton and Leicester. QPR on that basis is going to be a tough game! On the beach or not.

Pretty much where I’m at. Saints are on a brilliantly relentless run of form, beat Arsenal in the cup and ran City close, and their manager is loved and clearly on an upward trajectory. And yet, despite all that, they must know even if they win both their games it’s still going to take Milwall tripping up for them to get autos. I expect they’ll still go for it against us - and our feeble starts to game worry me there - but wonder if they’ll run out of steam. Still maintain we need two things to happen: our strikers to be clinical, and the supporting cast to produce big moments. Could be a monumental night, could be anything. But it’s there for us. If we played two good halves we should beat them, we are, on paper, the better side with better options. The issue for me is Davis is out/being protected depending on who you believe. Kipre's form has tanked, for some reason we dropped Ben Johnson when he started to be the difference maker, Jaden and Azor are clearly not 100%, and we have no real option for cover for Azor........... and we have one forward who has the killer instinct of a poodle puppy when it comes to scoring! He's a bit like Jonas Axeldal, a better player of course, but the amount of times that guy got himself into good space, ready to rocket one in, only to produce wet farts in front of goal reminds me a lot of what we get with Azon! We're relying really on some Clarke magic, and a Jaden screamer and to hope that Azor can hold on for another couple of matches to get us over the line, but the bloke is running on empty. I'd rather play us than Millwall in the playoffs though, if I were Southampton. Millwall are fighting for everything this season and that type of team who might win a playoff.

Azor has ran out of gas at just the wrong time. Wonder if there’s a case to play both Taylor and Neil alongside him to shore things up. At least take the sting out of the game and then hit them on the break. And you’re right; if we could put two decent halves together we’ll have a great chance. Hasn’t happened often, now would be a great time to start. A goal from a set piece wouldn’t hurt, either, with our strikers continuing to miss big chances.

Tomorrow is my third attempt at getting to an away game this season. I had to abort the previous two as chemo completely wiped me out, but it’s looking good for tomorrow (famous last words). 3rd time lucky and Im due some to boot

To be fair, if we rerun the Charlton game 100 times, we’d win it 99 times. If we play that way against QPR, we’ll likely win comfortably.

Well then i'm sorry and it's a bit harsh, but you're not the sharpest tool in the shed and no professional football team will be thinking that way. [Post edited 27 Apr 22:38]

| I think we're going to win tomorrow (n/t) on 08:00 - Apr 28 with 351 views | Esseeja | I honestly still think West Brom was going to be the tougher game of the two, it was predictable that we were not going to win at the Hawthorns, but I didn't think we'd get a point, both teams were wasteful with their chances, West Brom more so than us. I thought we were winning this one before we even beat Norwich, Portsmouth and West Brom games were the free hits in my mind. It is not a disaster if we end up being wrong and we lose, either. Our away form is just all over the place when you look at the results, there isn't much consistency or pattern to find, but the links you can make are our performances against Coventry and Norwich away from home, and why I felt all the way back in February that we would beat Norwich and find Portsmouth a much tougher test, and why I was looking at this game more favourably than nearly the rest of our fixture list. | | | |

Well, you might have lowered yourself to insult me on this one (well done) … but if you are Southampton, off the back of a tough schedule, now in the playoffs, why would you want to avoid playing a Ipswich side with key components not at 100% having come off the back of a tough schedule themselves ? – a side that in some areas is running on empty, who are only managing one decent half at the moment and a less than stellar away record? Yes, we have the better squad on paper, but in key areas we have players who are fatigued and are carrying injuries (or recovering) in Davis, Burns, Azor and Jaden and Southampton will be aware of that, as will anyone else. Managers and players at a professional level are very aware that teams like Millwall and Wrexham are a threat in playoffs, especially given how they are underdogs and unfavourable, and will be treating every playoff game like the final and for many of these players it will be their only shot at Wembley, promotion and a chance to play in the Premier League. In fact, we were very much that team in 23/24, and a bit like Millwall this season, we might not have had the quality of Leeds and Southampton that season, but we out fought them over the line to the automatics. We’d have been a handful at the playoffs had we not finished second, and I would have still bet on us going up. I’d very much fancy Millwall for the playoffs if we win tonight.
