And for once we worked out quite quickly where he'd set the bar for physical contact and played to that - plenty of games where we haven't adapted quick enough to a high or low bar when the opposition have. | |

Also possibly helps if your overseeing assessors have to send a letter of apology for a previous game involving one of the teams you're refereeing, you'd possibly want to make sure your officiating was top notch to show that you are competent after all? | |

Yep, one of the best this season, helped by two teams that wanted to play football. My best ref overall this season, is the guy who took charge of Sheff U at home and Portsmouth away. Different results for sure, but same very good performance from him. Absolutly top class against Sheff U. Should be in the PL in my humble opinion. |  | | |

I'm quite wary of PL referees dropping down to the Football League - they often don't seem prepared for the lower level of skill at this level & can't wait to get their cards out for slightly mistimed tackles. A PL ref would probably have sent off Greaves last night. |  |
