The Overton window, starting with the last few years of the last Tory government, has economically slid further left than I have ever experienced in this country. 2016-24 Tories were much further left economically than New Labour. Just because you "cannot see" how people could do very well in the "current societal setup" but also may consider something different doesn't mean it's true.

Minimum wage. What is wrong with it? Businesses will find it hard? Maybe. But here is the thing. If propoer wages are paid, the benefits bill gets cut and taxes might go down. At the moment, businesses paying minimum wage are largely having profits for owners and upper management being heavily subsidised by the state. Scrounging off the tax payer, effectively. Because their employees need benefits as well as a full time job to live. | |
