| Wes. What a player 14:40 - May 2 with 2201 views | FrimleyBlue | No need to revisit the incredibly stupid past issue. But if that was his last performance for town. Hes up there with the likes of mogga, Stewart, wark and butcher for me and requires legend status. The way he got injured. Got through it and comes back time and time again and just carries on like hed never been injured. Only legends to that. Was i wrong. Absolutely I was and the town world will be a lesser place without wes in it. | |

As for Burns, he is approaching legendary status. Would love him as a back up next season but understand if he wants to be playing week in week out.

Yeah, agreed, post-Burns incident they have been a breath of fresh air.

One of the best purchases we have ever made I would think. Certainly in the last two decades. Leif Davis in the conversation. I'd have to put Morsy in there as well because he was so massively influential. Previous huge signings that could compete? Marcus Stewart the last absolutely huge one?

| Wes. What a player on 20:07 - May 2 with 1425 views | vapour_trail | Love Wes. But next to Wark and Butcher? Don’t think so. Someone compared Kieran to SBR earlier. Equally ludicrous. Last four years have been amazing. But not alongside the finest periods in the clubs history. Perspective, lads. | |

Perspective is looking at club achievements Since the butcher and wark says we had Stewart and the burley years. Then nothingness in regards to celebration or achievement. To be part of 3 promotions and a key player of said promotions you do imo have a right to be seen as a club legend amongst the others. Definition of legend is an admired person. The reaction to his substitution today i think shows he 100% goes down as one of them.

Agreed Frimmers. Wark and Butcher are another level of legend.

Perspective is acknowledging the disparity in finances now compared to the SBR era. Clubs were able to get promoted to the top division and then win it the following year. That would be an almost impossible achievement now. Nottingham Forest also went on to win two European Cups. Can you imagine a similar scenario unfolding in the modern age? What these players, and more importantly the manager have achieved over the past four years is incredible, and just as impressive as what the old guard achieved in the 70s and 80s.

Agree with most of that. But not all of it. Perhaps I’m in the minority though.

Perspective and context is right. Walk, Butcher and SBR and co achievements were more elite. But in a different time and context to what is possible for our club now. I put the achievements up there and the impact for our club and town right up there. It's a different story. Wes was a player doing well but for a tiny club in Fleetwood. For essentially peanuts he came to our club in it's lowest state and and lit the touch paper. The rise of the club with him.as part of it's beating heart has been amazing. Not the same as close to the peak of the sport. But for Ipswich Town FC in this century the impact is right up there. What a story for him.

I suppose it's a generational thing. I grew up watching the 78 and 81 teams so I have a real emotional attachment to those players. Since then we've had several relegations and promotions but I never had the same emotional attachment to those players as I have for the 22-24 team. I suppose it's because we sunk so low and it was that special group who brought back the good times that people put them up there with the likes of Wark and Butcher, even though they aren't on the same level as footballers. | Wes. What a player on 07:41 - May 3 with 446 views | Blue_Heath | Without a doubt one of my favourite players since he arrived here. That was the only low point of yesterday seeing him walk off knowing we'd never see him grace this pitch again. ÂŁ for ÂŁ an amazing signing. What was great was once he went off and the baton passed to Kacey he managed to bag the winner. There's a definite player in there but Wes is a tough act to follow.

| Wes. What a player on 08:52 - May 3 with 302 views | dirtyboy | May just have overtaken Holland as my favourite player now. I remember me and a mate seeing him play for Fleetwood against us and us both saying we’d fancy him playing for us and lo and behold we signed him (maybe we should be in the scouting dept lol) Love his attitude his rise through the leagues with us, some awesome goals and contributions with those cut backs for Chaplin. I’d love him to stay with us another year, get that Premier League goal to cap things off as an unreal career with us. Think Leif will be another…fast becoming a lifer and a proper true blue | | | |
