I hear he called out the scum at Isaacs too? Wonder if he'll still be a town player and we can see an Ipswich player at the World Cup?

Weve had a few play for random countries over the last few decades, not sure if Bontcho was with us when he was there or that random East European left back (cant remember his name). Of course theres been the Irish contingent

Bontcho scored a pen for Bulgaria whilst playing for us if memory serves me correct. Thomsen played in Euro 96, I actually saw him live v Croatia. Will Memheti also play?

| George McHirst on 13:56 - May 3 with 619 views | TripSwitch | Time to get pelters. If I'm being honest Hirst has been absolutely rotten all season, let's call a spade a spade. He should have been a leader in the team and one of the top players in the league. Instead he's looked an absolute donkey for large parts of games and his finishing has been really poor too. There is no way he should have been playing 2nd fiddle to Azon who was signed as the 3rd striker and one to develop I'm not sure about keeping him for the PL, much as he's a good character and loves Ipswich, unless he can rediscover his ability to control the ball consistently he will be a waste of a squad place. If he shows some improvement in summer he's probably worth holding onto as injury cover. | |

There's no denying Hirst has been poor for large parts of this season, but how much of that is down to a lack of confidence? Reading things like "he's looked like an absolute donkey," from the very fans who are supposed to be supporting him must have played a part. Look what he can do when everyone is behind him though - he was in beast mode yesterday. Do better.

11 goals is a decent return, yesterday he was the key man in our start with 1 goal and an assist. He has been patchy but shown a return to form recently. He looked ok on the prem last time and I would definitely keep him, very adequate back up

Come off it mate. It's not my fault or anyone else's in the crowd that Hirst has been so poor this season. You're being ridiculous. He's been a big let down at a time when we all expected and needed him to step up. McKenna put his faith in Hirst as the main main and he hasn't delivered, you can't deny that. A good performance yesterday doesn't erase what we've seen for the other 45 games and there is a now a big question mark over whether he stays at the club for me. [Post edited 3 May 14:43]

11 goals is hardly a big let down is it ? Especially considering he has played the equivalent of 23 full games in pitch time.

Massively massively over the top. Not at his best but contributed a lot regardless. The level of disrespect saying he looked an absolute donkey is off the scale. You be you though. Well done.

Hirst is a good player who has done well for this club. He has not had the best of seasons. It happens with human beings. Maybe not on FM25, but in real life it’s how it is. However, he is hard working, talented and a really good team player. GH brings people into the game and his value to the team was amply demonstrated two seasons ago when he got injured and before Moore plugged the gap. He is not an out and out finisher but looking at his time with us George is still about 1 in 3 which isn't too bad. This season with a stuttering midfield and a new team behind him, he scored 11 in 2111 minutes (say 23.5 games). He certainly did deliver. He is somebody I’d definitely keep.

I'd also keep Jaden after seeing his goal yesterday - that kind of twinkle-toed trickery would be really useful in the Prem.

What a load of rubbish. Have you even seen us play for three seasons? McK Ball is the 9 is primarily a defensive player who presses and creates chances and opportunities for others. Where to start with this level of stupidity.

Calm down FFS I'm not questioning his role in the system and that he's played it really well in the past, or that his attributes as suited to it. But this season with the onus on him to be our main guy he's absolutely tanked and gone backwards, in what could and should have been the best season of his career If he was as excellent as you claim why would he have lost his place to Azon, who is a good and developing player but ultimately signed as backup I'd be extremely surprised if anyone at Ipswich would be happy or comfortable going into next season with Hurst as the first choice or even main back up because he's been found wanting this season when we all hoped he'd step up.

I rated Hirst before this season and was excited to see what he'd be capable of in a good side as the main man but to say he's been a let down this year is an understatement. Maybe he'll be more suited to playing on the break more with more time and space to run into, but otherwise I can't see what value he's going to add in the PL other than as a good character in the squad.

Yes, all good points, I of course don't know what's happening in his personal life or behind the scenes and he certainly has attributes and has shown them in the past. But judging on the on pitch performance he seems to have gone markedly backwards this season. As I said just above. It may be that he is not suited to playing against a low block, with defenders tight and little space to run into. And he could play himself into form with a bit more space and higher defensive lines to play with But if he performs like he has done this season, with an extremely unreliable touch and poor finishing, on the pitch at least I don't see the value in keeping him around. Character wise and member of the squad he'll always have value but we also need players up to PL standard on the pitch if we're gonna survive.
