| Tractor Guy (dark horse) on 19:36 - May 4 with 454 views | Crawfordsboot | Tractor guy presents himself as intellect and fact based reason over passionate support for the club. In fact his facts are often not facts at all, just his opinion (which he is entitled to). He highlights our low points total this year to imply that it has been a weak division. One might equally well argue that our points total this year is low because it is a strong division with the likes of Southampton and Middlesbrough missing out on automatic promotion. Could it be that our points total at the last promotion was so high simply because that was a weak year? Not sure how you can say we wasted the opportunity pf our first promotion. We went up with an infrastructure fresh out of division one and unsurprisingly were immediately relegated but we consolidated from a stronger position and we go back into the prem in much better shape on all fronts. From where i sit your claimed rational and reasoned views are somewhat distorted by a strong negative bias. | | | |

| Tractor Guy (dark horse) on 13:56 - May 4 by darkhorse28 | Some of those are just facts, not winning the league doesn’t matter does it, who cares, bigger picture. Points totls and end to season (form) they’re just facts, and instructive, you seemed to have drawn the conclusion yourself?! I’ve never had a dig at TWTD, love Phil’s bones, he has the constitution on an Ox to put up with childish personal jibes like yours. Why don’t you read your list. And comment on the issues. £200 million well spent? Guess it’s yielded the financial outcome, so yes, but good enough for the prem? You tell me? I don’t know who Robin is, he only exists in your head. Just enjoy the success, stop being personally offended by facts that don’t suit your arguement and stop taking and making it personal. I’ve never said KM wasn’t at this level, I have said he hasn’t made the most of the resources, where and how we finished against sides with 10% of those resources, or Southampton with no coaching or recruitment but 16 consecutive wins, suggest that’s not an opinion, it’s a measure. If you were a Milwall fan, wouldn’t you say Neil is twice the manager that McKenna is? 1 point behind, with zero resources? Coventry? I won’t list them all. McKenna deserves all the praise and success, works his socks off, young and improving, he has more potential than most of those. As for Ashton: you’re right, I would still slag him off - he’s 36 years not good enough for the elite end. We’ve outgrown him. Buys he’s not daft. He’s indexed our club 100% times himself, and for a reason, because deep down he knows he’s not good enough. You might think that’s ok. And maybe you’re right. Time will tell. I think being 100% indexed to Marks abilities isn’t going to end well.., right man at the right time though 100% for sure. Oh and I don’t think I’ve had a personal dig at you, but couldn’t say for sure, so apologies, it’s never personal, only ever wanting the best for our shared passion, so apologies if I have - it’s a passionate business this football, we’ll all want the v best. I’m always amazed anyone takes this place personally, because I don’t know you it wouldn’t ever be meant to offend you in that level. Enjoy the summer. This is the best bit.., a couple of months of glory, potential, new signings, and the world at our feet, this is why we go to Grimsby in. Burley’s last game, in the rain, with Finidi not trying a yard, so we can enjoy the good times. They don’t come along often (unless you’re KM). Forwards. Ooooft I’d take up by a point, but then we said that about Burleys European heroes. Anything’s possible. It’s football. |

| Tractor Guy (dark horse) on 00:11 - May 4 by darkhorse28 | This is a little odd buddy - I haven’t been on Facebook for about 2 years, let alone 2 days. Been busy enjoying our success, great achievement by all involved, it’ll be 5 years of elite level revenue in total, and that’s a ‘game changer’ or should be - we wasted the first opportunity and now have another chance with hopefully lessons learned, we need massive improvement, it’s one of the lowest points titais for promotion, and our form at the end wasn’t very good - 7th last then was it? So we stumbled over the line, not sure why you attack people you don’t know? Just PM me if you want a chat?! It’s better than trolling…, and no idea who the FB guy is, have you tried asking? Or letting it go maybe? Don’t take it all so seriously. We had luck, Boro collapsed, but we did improve and 3 promotions is unbelievable at any level, KM held his nerve and stuck with the process - let’s see where we are after rh summer squad wise and give it a go!! Stop gatingboeoooe that have different opinions to you…, it comes across as fascist when you’re intolerant in a forum like sadly most are. It’s only from other people views you can challenge your own. And I’m genuinely not on any social media - I’m in the fantasy footy, I’m the one doing much better than you : )) Seriously. Stop staking and trolling and PM people if it’s engagement you want (that’s rhetorical). |
Not sure there’s a lot wrong with that to be fair. We all hope the recruitment is better this time I’m sure.

Try Yoga, meditation, or not engaging. Fighting facts with emotion will always be frustrating. It amazes me people don’t like the £200 million one, probably because it’s true and annoying, but come up with answers, not attacking the messenger which looks low rent. Attacking people because facts annoy you isn’t ideal.., you can have ‘whatever we wasted matters less now because promotion is worth maybe another £250 million plus’ And that’s how truth works. I’ll counter with, if we don’t improve how we invest, it won’t matter. Both valid points.., let’s agree and enjoy the summer. Back in the big time.

| Tractor Guy (dark horse) on 13:39 - May 4 by darkhorse28 | There’s no disrespect. McKenna would call himself a tall dwarf. He knows the Championship isn’t anywhere near the Premier League level. I’m sure he now knows the full scale of the task - I really doubt he sits and congratulates himself, I suspect it’s one of his biggest strengths, he’s not Mark Ashton. He knows he failed in the biggest league in the world, and hopefully he obsessed with putting that right. You do know we are in the EFL right and we get £4 million a year for like to watch it on TV instead of now £150 million plus parachutes .., so what’s it worth maybe £250 million against £15-30 million depending on how often we are on TV. There’s a small clue as to the skill, quality, and challenge of the premier keague V’s the EFL. One is watched the world over and is the best most competitive league in the world. You need to be a world class manger to survive.., top 50 in world football. The EFL - not even top 1000. Levels. I’m sure he can do it. He’s v young, hopefully full of improvement, but if you think that will be easy, or three EFL promotions is instructive, wobble your head - tallest dwarf.., it’s a HUGE leap, others have done it, so over to McKenna. |
Hahahaaaaaa enjoy another season in the championship budgieboy!

Ah ok. Thanks for that. I can see the conflation to me then, I’d agree with some of his content I’d think, fascinates me that people think there can only be one person with those views. Narcissistic isn’t it. I totally agree with your assessment on it ‘could’ be a product of which was stronger/weaker. Where I form my views from though is this season been VERY competitive but weaker in quality. Firstly being of a certain age. I’ve watched every season we’ve had at this level. And that’s a lot. And I’d say worst ever, or low quality certainly. I only started thinking about that though early in the season when I heard Wilder talking about it, VERY rare to hear an in work manager be so candid. ‘Most competitive I’ve seen the championship, mostly because the quality at the top of the division, is lower than most seasons I’ve worked at this level’ I agreed with him. And figured he’s closer to it, lives and breathes it and less bias than us. I think it was a poor division. And the recency of the points totals make an interesting point, we have a team of players who’ve been in team of the year at this level, and they haven’t quite hit those heights. Hard to argue they have. Does it matter. Yes and no. We’ve achieved the only objective that matters. So no. But also yes, it will be instructive as to what comes next, and how you feel about that, won’t come in to it. There’s a truth that won’t respect the emotion. How we do in the market will decide that. Let’s see. We were a league one club with league one infrastructure!?!? Really? You probably said the single thing that has me here - I was a member on here for 15 years without posting. And then this, low rent, low ball, expectation lowering utter garbage!! Sorry to lower the mood.., but are you serious? What about a club winning three major trophies and spending 99% of its recent history in the second tier, with a great stadium, great support, fantastic and expensive playing squad, and one of the biggest budgets ever in the third tier makes us a third division club in your mind?? We’ve never had league one facilities, Cheltenham get changed in a pub car park!!! Our budget was 90% bigger than Forest Green and Fleetwood .., and conflating us to that level, just to make yourself feel good, is all a bit sad. It boils my p*ss. No offence, but it really does. So tell me when we had a league one squad and league one stadium, and league one budget, and league one crowds, and league one players?? Cook brought us Morsy etc who had (rightly) never kicked a ball at that level.., and the premier league squad we assembled, ONE player from league one, 99% had never kicked a ball at that level for ANY club. Not my views, measures. I’m actually a v positive person, no negative bias, I didn’t post through all the bad times because I could see the potential, the hope, the joy of when we eventually get it right. You need those times to make these times so special, and every manger we appointed made logical sense, and until the last few years it was obvious Evans tried his best, I can’t argue with someone spending £100 million of their own money, I admitted that, if not the execution. One thing I can’t stand, tolerate, abide, though, is telling us down for your own emotional regulation. Pretending we are small .., we were low rent, third division. No we weren’t. I don’t like it when McKenna does it, when Ashton did it, and when you do it.., and Jason Dozzel does it (often). We aren’t Wrexham, we aren’t Forest Green, Morecombe, and it feels SO disingenuous and SO disrespectful to the managers like Alf and Bobby who poured their hearts into the club, made us a global name, and never managed outside the top flight for a reason (Bobby). What do you get out of pretending we are third rate?? And lucky not to be in league one? We’ve never been a league one size club, facilities, resources, not for many decades at least. So why say it?? We had the second biggest budget in league one, and one of the highest in this division this year - I can see why you have issue with the Tractor Guy if he’s using facts you don’t like, to trigger you, those are facts. You can’t just pretend we’re a low rate third rate club to make toured feel good, to lower expectations, it’s not true! We were a massive league one club under achieving, and that ok, it happens, why pretend that’s our level?? I know the pain when we were so poor last season (before last now) we were abject, and hopefully there won’t be a repeat, but these aren’t the excuses .., training grounds don’t sign elite players, look at the league tables to see that. We can have higher expectations and support the journey too.., it’s possible - don’t talk us down to protect your ego - we’re better than that!!! Burley did it. We can do it again. Let’s dream, of Europe, not a trip to Cheltenham and winning a game and feeling good.., I’d rather lose to Barcelona and be thankful and grateful we are there and on that journey. Enjoy your summer - let’s lift expectations, not as a stick to hammer people with, but a shared aspiration to be the best we can be, and for a club our size, that’s Europe, top half of the table does that these days, and we absolutely can be that club, we have the resources, the support, the ground, the facilities and hopefully the manger.., so why not?

Maybe there’s more than one person with those views, it’s an idea. They’re very logical views aren’t they. Points totals, as a measure, league positions as a measure, money spent and resources as a measure. As comparisons go. It might not always rouse the rabble and be emotional, and it also might not always reach the right conclusion either, either the consensus, or the outcome, but it’s obvious why people might think those things are important and instructive. Enjoy your summer - here’s to the excitement it all brings. (I’ll try not to measure it). Sake, I’m already tryingbtonworkmoutmhowmmuchnwr can spend and on who. Argh.

Tell him I’ll slap him like a cheap Chris Rock and to take my name out of his mouth. It does sound like I broadly agree with him though (on some things). Not TWTD. Phil deserves a medal the size of a bin lid for managing this place - I’ve leached on the content for decades, and nothing but gratitude for that, and the obvious hard work. I remember having to buy a Sun Newspaper on holiday in Spain, to see if we’d signed David Hill from think Scunthorpe for £100k yet - this is 100% progress!! V lucky indeed. We all should be grateful.

| Tractor Guy (dark horse) on 00:41 - May 4 by darkhorse28 | Again. The hate. The trolling. Why can’t everyone be happy? People are allowed to not have your opinions, you don’t like it. But you might actually learn something.., nobody has the answer, that’s why it’s called a ‘forum’ to discuss things, it’s ok to disagree. You’ve got a lot of growing up to do. We grew a lot as a team. Three promotions in four years is unbelievable for a young coach. We have five elite years of revenue combined, that’s transformative, and generational with the way football finance is. McKenna stuck to his process and it worked. Well that and my lucky socks, which as it go’s have never lost a game in the EFL!!! Staggering!! I don’t want all the credit though. Now for the truths that you won’t be able to process, because you can’t have two competing ideas in your head at once. I said all season I that we’d be third. Two points off. Boro collapsed. We have one of the lowest points totals ever for promotion, 79 is the lowest. We finished poorly at the business end. 10th in the form table last six games, and even adjusting for all the away games, 6th for last six games at home. I thought we won promotion? We can only beat what’s in front of us, but that isn’t great. Not our fault teams fell away and didn’t get it done. So well done to all. We were miles behind Coventry, with 3 times their budget, 2 point ahead of Milwall with 10’tikes theirs. I don’t say that to be negative…, but those FACTS are instructive. McKenna has had to build two squads, but that was his choices and he’s five years in. How does he measure against Parker? Or the Southampton manger. Who didn’t spend a penny, had no time to buy players or coach, and won 16 games on the bounce. We don’t operate in a bubble. We compete in the big boy world. McKenna the ‘legend’ is getting way too carried away. He’s got it all to prove, and I hope he does, unlike Ashton, he could, he had the desire, the ability, and the platform to do that, no doubt. But at the minute, he’s a tall dwarf, no manger in the EFL finds the next step easy …., except maybe Sunderland …, and Farke too .., ok, so McKenna doesn’t, but like you I do think, and hope he’s learned all the lessons he needs to. He won’t get the little club narrative this time, so needs to hit the ground, get a feeling all isn’t well with Mark and him, can’t have been happy he’d told Faragr he’d sack him, so it’s a dynamic to watch. Exciting though isn’t it. New signings, more parachute pennies if the worse happens and a dimmer where there’s no excuses. We have the infrastructure in place or should have. So it’s a summer obsessing about come August having a squad to compete - and we’ve a hell of a lot of work to do. I’m 45 years watching the game, I never assume I know more than anyone about the game, I often get things wrong, but I’m 0.01% in EPL for about 15 years!! I obsess about the game. The detail. I love it. I’m not wrong often, mostly because I don’t do the emotion as much as many, I enjoy it, had a great time Saturday, it didn’t slap like 22 years against Huddersfield but that was the best day as a supporter, and KM takes credit for that. But everything I say is through the prism of facts and metrics. Still doesn’t make me right. But your ability to ignite them all, is really rather special. They instruct what comes next more than spreading this is elite. And what comes next CAN be done, IF McKenna is good enough and Ashton too. One of them might be. One of them 100% isn’t. That is going to be a problem. You might not like it, or ever accept it, but you can’t say something something forest green next season. Rightly we measure against other promoted sides, Leeds, Sunderland, Brentford and Bournemouth and Brighton. I’ve seen a lot of Leeds and Sunderland this season.., we’ve spent more than Sunderland the last two years, and Leeds had £45 million losses before the tie promotion, and haven’t spent huge, but I can say for sure they’re both a BIG level above us. That’s our challenge. I always celebrate my success’ for a day, then already had new stretch goals. I suspect McKenna is the same, he’ll have hi plans I’m sure. Let’s hope he gets the players he wants. My biggest issue you’ll see play out - with our league one P&L I don’t think any club or fee under FFP had our head room to spend and spend BIG and we DID. But not nearly well enough to take advantage. We’ll have money this summer, but it won’t be close to those levels…, and looking at us play, that’s a problem. Time will tell though. Hope you enjoyed the celebrations, you’ve been positive throughout, and you deserve to enjoy the success more than most - it makes the summer doesn’t it, when you’re in the big time and it’s all to look forward to. Find a striker or two and who knows. And a CDM. |

🤔- Did you not notice - in double quick time we have transitioned from being relegated to league1 to winning promotion to the Premiership.

And a CDM. |
"everything I say is through the prism of facts" Maybe that's your problem. The rest of us look at the facts straight, rather than all warped through a prism.

I missed that gem. I'll add delusional to their list of traits now.
