| Flynn Downes on 16:35 - May 9 with 1103 views | BloomBlue | No, he's not PL quality. He wasn't good enough for Moyes then he isn't good enough for KM. That first half was a perfect example, he was overrun and Boro didn't even have their best midfielder on the pitch. If that had been Jack Taylor 50%+ of TWTDers would be posting 'that's precisely why Taylor isnt good enough for the PL' | | | |

I think we will have other targets but I'd be absolutely fine bringing Downes back. He's a quality player who will always be a bit underrated because of they type of defensive neat and tidy player he is. If shopping in the championship I'd have Morris right up there on the list. Suspect we will be looking in Europe or further this window. |
Knowing the club is now irrelevant. We're a completely different club from top to bottom to the one he left.

Evidence? What's he done in the prem to make you think he's an underrated player, JD?

The point with all the new signings is that they won't be specifically back up, surely? So we'll likely get some one that is a step up from the championship and we hope is good enough for the prem. If that makes them better than Azor then brilliant, and they'll play instead of him. I don't think we aim for a back up in any of our transfer dealings.

As much as I thought Azor had a wonderful 6 months when he came he took time to get up to speed and the last Month after injury it was like he was running in treacle we need pace beside him if he plays.

Nah. Azor Will be first choice! There's a reason Liverpool looked at him! What a player.

And also a reason they didnt sign him. We love him. He will be important. But I dont think hes quick enough on the ball to be a weekly prem first teamer. His weakness imo is getting the ball from defence or keeper and then having to turn a presser. If we look to bypass him its then I think hes at his strongest when we are using him to intercept balls and protect the backline. If we are to use the pivot in the prem.. we really need a quick ball playing cm next to him who can be the one who drops to receive the ball and turn.

| Flynn Downes on 14:47 - May 9 by WolfieAtTheBack | Aidan Morris is the perfect player to sign if we are down by January to go back up again, and so on and so forth. There is a pattern forming here. We NEED proper premier league / European Cups level players to stay up this time and lots of them. |
Yep, probably stating the obvious but if you're in the PL, to survive you need PL quality players everywhere, whether actually from the PL or somewhere reasonably equivalent. Though it appears the penny hasn't fully dropped for some, even after the last experience.

| Flynn Downes on 14:05 - May 9 by pingu67 | I'd much rather we go for Aidan Morris if boro don't go up Flynn really pushed for a move away once so now we are in a much stronger position than those days i wouldn't go for someone who wanted out |
To be fair, he pushed for a move when we were in league one and obviously going nowhere with awful ownership and he knew his career would die if he stayed. Why do we hold that against him?
| Flynn Downes on 06:41 - May 10 with 701 views | RetroBlue | I think the days of us needing FD are long gone. Hes missed that boat im.afraid. had hus chance, and wasnt interested. Well id say we can bring in mych better players than him, and hes not PL anyway. | |

I am finding it fairly sobering some of the comments, where I am now as a town fan of 40 years is if we go down again, then are we wanting to go up again. It's kind of confusing so I am purely routing for staying in the PL and that is a new adventure, the getting there bit is now firmly over, we have to progress. I would also like to see us net season go properly for the cups, no reason why a PL team cannot get to the latter stages of a cup comp.

| Flynn Downes on 14:26 - May 9 by BlueForYou | No way, can't understand what you see in him. Rather have Cajuste or Taylor. |
Because he has totally different attributes to those players, we had ONE CDM this season and were SO lucky he played as much as he did. Look at Morsy, and compare to Jens say (peak Sam) takes the ball on the half turn, tracks runners, takes up great defensive positions, and loves taking the ball under pressures Does he have the passing range, the quality and skill to drift past players like Jens, no, but we okaye a double pivot, and it’s a CDM we need, or those traits, especially in the prem. Love Jens on the ball, high up the pitch, but we don’t play that formation, as good a technician as he is, at the CDM stuff, he’s a 5/10 in the championship, can’t do the defensive side, and premier league managers have worked that out too. He needs to find a club that play an 8 where he’ll be great. We need a CDM big time .., just look at Sunderland when they got an oven ready one.., that and a striker are essential. We maybe need better than Flynn - buys he’s much better than anything with have to partner Mats, and he’s way too good for the championship.
| Flynn Downes on 22:25 - May 11 with 349 views | IndependentlyBlue | If we’re going to survive in the Prem we need to do what we’ve been doing up to now at each transfer window. Try to better players than we have at the club now. Flynn Downes isn’t better than what we have so we shouldn’t be buying him now. The fact that KMK looked to buy him a year or so ago is irrelevant now. At that time he may have been an improvement on what we had. But not now. As far as I know there hasn’t been any enquiries for him from other Prem clubs which would seem to indicate that he isn’t Prem quality. All imho of course | |
