He's obviously got a better offer from somewhere. Wonder if Juventus will come back in for him.

Interesting. I wonder whether there's any agreement between him and the club that provides for a general release fee that's in the same ballpark as Sassuolo's option. It may well be that there isn't.

It might be that the club just wants rid at that sort of price if it can get it, in order to get the wages off the books and progress our own incoming transfers. But he's had a really good season in Serie A, and it's possible that he has more than one suitor, in which case it's possible that we get more for him than the Sassuolo option price. You never know.

I don't imagine that this news is the herald of his return to Suffolk, but that would be amusing.

The personal reasons likely being he does not want to play for them and knows he will get a move to a bigger club!

At least that means we get a blank canvas to negotiate with teams for one of the best performing keepers in Serie A.

Could actually mean the loan system may work in our favour. Looked likely he'd move on at a loss, now we may get a bidding war bumping his price up. Whatever, he needs to move on.

Shame it didn't work out here because I do see why he has been so highly rated throughout his career, had some immense performances for us but equally too many brain farts.

Looks like he will get a good move though so good luck to him.

He's had a good season, I'd imagine his agent has a pretty high level of confidence that they'll get him a bigger move on more money. From our perspective I don't suppose we care where he goes, as long as he does go somewhere for that sort of money and we get back roughly what we paid for him.

You wonder if Sassuolo got wind of him being interested in other clubs rather than them and decided to bench him for the last few games because of that instead of form.

Pity it didn't work out at Town, I was watching the Spurs away game and he was superb in that, claiming everything in the air with ease. It feels like he never really hit it off with teammates rather than a cultural thing. After all he had spent 2 seasons on the costa del Burnley.

Likely an unhelpful distraction. Another club will offer him more and us less and we will be waiting all summer to see who blinks first.

I think our negotiating position is pretty strong. We're back in the premier league and he has 2 years left on his contract. Clubs know what we're looking for, its been well documented, they're either willing to pay it or they're not.

I'm pretty sure we'll get €10m for him from somewhere.

Strange. I assumed an option clause always already had the player side agreed, so the club could buy him no matter what Arlo thought. You'd think they'd want to seeing as there was profit in it for them.

Hopefully a speedy transfer is sorted out.

Not if there is more than 1 club interested

If they want him, they risk others clubs stumping up the asking price if they play those games.

You can’t force a player to go somewhere. The option was between us and Sassuolo so, although Muric would have known about it, he didn’t have to agree to it. And even if he did he can change his mind. If he’s got a better club interested in him he’s better off coming back here as presumably we would be keener to sell him than Sassuolo.

Are 100% that KM and the team feel he has no future here?

I know some fans are clear on that.

It's not beyond the realms that after a good season in Italy - he comes back into the fold.

Its good to keep an open mind when we dont know exact details, it might also help us cover the loss on a forward that has so far contributed little by way of goal output.

I think it'd be a great idea to try but all parties have to partake and I really can't see Muric joining in with the idea

Usually the agreement is in place already. The contract between the player and the loan club is already signed, triggered if the club take up the option.

Seems pointless to have an option if thats not already agreed. Could have a player smash a loan spell for you you're then not able to sign as he knows he can get better.

That's the difference between an option/obligation (such as in Akpoms case)

Option would need to be negotiated between all 3 parties, whereas a watertight legal obligation would have seen the player already agree to proposed terms.

Lets be honest though, that does not translate to it being to get a good fee for him.

United got £40M for a player (Garnacho) who threw the manager under the bus, was left out of all pre-season squads and said he would only move to Chelsea.

That's my point . As other clubs will know the relationship between player club and fans wasn't seemingly the best so I'm not expecting this to generate a huge fee because he's had a good season in Serie A . Potential buyers will use previous seasons narrative to their advantage

I get the impression that Muric is a moody, difficult character & after 1 season, McKenna may not want him back at PR & the plusses are that we are under less pressure to shift him given our income next season & that he has had a good season, so we may attract a few suitors.
He could return, but I think as soon as he made his first error, the crowd would be on his back.
