| The state of politics is pretty depressing 17:20 - May 15 with 2017 views | Illinoisblue | Reform councillor for Essex makes a post bashing Labour which is immediately exposed as a lie. Does he delete post? No, just doubles down on the lie. Small lies, big lies and all the lies in between. We’re fed a diet of lies. The Trump strategy of lying, boldly, and never backing down or apologizing, poisons us all. | |

TWTD is not a good pick me up either. Now stop moaning, grab a bud lite (don’t forget to leave a tip) and go have the best summer of your life! |

Reform choose from three when it came to electing the next leader of Suffolk County Council, two experienced former Tory Councillors but chose Cllr Hadwen, who prior to his election had been a political advisor to his party's leadership at Kent County Council. He said the role, which he had held since last December, gave him a 'blueprint of how a Reform council could run'.

A blueprint you say. https://searchlightmagazine.co Having said that, it hasn't really been noticeable on the ground due to the fact that councils have statutory duties and local government officials have kept the show on the road. [Post edited 16 May 10:38]

You have to think that people will think twice when it comes to voting for the shadow councillors next May. More to the point that those who didn’t bother to vote this year wake up.

The sad inescapable fact Swanners is that it's likely to be a huge march if the last one is anything to go by. The far right have been building in the shadows for a very long time, but no more. They are now marching through our streets loud and proud, and in big numbers. Yes, as a proportion of the UK populous it's still relatively small, but I don't recall any far right marches of this size before. I hate it. I just f@cking hate it. I feel helpless but do what I can to financially support groups like hope not hate who hopefully can continue to expose their lies and hatred.

We see them on here being more and more open too and trying to stay the right side instead of the far right of the “line” or acting dumb and innocent. The years of “both sides” in our media is a massive part of the way it’s delivered and dealt with in the country too.

I think you are quite funny at times. I don’t know you to dislike you. I am surprised that as someone that is proud of how hard they worked, and has talked about it, would look up to someone so lazy. I have people in my family that voted Brexit and reform, doesn’t mean I dislike them, or can’t get on fine with them. But once again, why avoid a question? I thought you would have been a decent enough person to say yeah, you don’t like liars, even when in your preferred party.

I received this from Hope not Hate today. We CAN push back if we support organisations like this. Today, Tommy Robinson’s supporters are marching through London. As someone who already supports HOPE not hate, I wanted to tell you directly about the work your support is helping make possible today. Right now, we’re running a major operation to interrupt Tommy Robinson’s online influence in real time. We're distrupting Tommy in real time We’re targeting the apps, livestreams and online spaces where his supporters gather. We’re putting evidence in front of people before Robinson’s network can control the narrative And we’re showing people who Tommy Robinson really is: a far-right grifter who profits from division and fear. We couldn’t say much about this publicly beforehand. But today, while Robinson’s supporters try to dominate the headlines and flood social media, we will be there too, disrupting, exposing and pushing back. When Robinson’s supporters tune in to watch the demo live, many will see our ads before they reach his allies’ livestreams and YouTube channels. Those ads use the words of Robinson’s own former allies and supporters, calling him out as a grifter and questioning the way he exploits the movement he claims to lead. When people are in the area of the march, we’ll reach them with geo-located ads that put the facts directly in front of them. And when people Google his name, the demo, or the claims his supporters are pushing, our paid search ads will surface detailed investigations into his history, criminal record, networks and funding. Alongside that, we’ll be posting factual information throughout the day about who Robinson really is: his long history of racism, his two-decade criminal record, and the truth behind the victim act he sells to his supporters. The far right do not just organise on the streets. They organise through livestreams, search results, group chats, outrage clips and algorithms that reward the most divisive content. Their aim is not just to reach their own supporters. It is to make the rest of us feel powerless, isolated and overwhelmed. They are better connected, better funded and more online than ever before. So if we are going to keep up, we have to move faster, try new tactics and meet them in the spaces where their propaganda spreads. Because we refuse to hand the internet over to the far right. Today, we’re meeting them where they are: online, in search results, on video platforms, and in the spaces where their propaganda spreads, and this work is only possible because of your support.
