This is for you Benters: If you are looking to buy a purebred, registered Suffolk Punch, the current market price in the UK typically ranges between £4,500 and £9,000, depending heavily on the horse's age, training, and breeding potential. Because they are a rare breed, availability is limited, but recent market listings provide a solid idea of what to expect: Youngstock and Colts: Usually start on the lower end, around £4,500 to £5,000. Geldings (Broken to harness/work): Well-trained, experienced geldings capable of working the land or showing generally command between £7,000 and £7,500. Mares: Proven breeding mares or those in-foal are highly sought after to preserve the breed line and typically cost £8,500 to £9,000+. Crossbreeds: If you look at a Suffolk Punch cross (often crossed with an Irish Draught or Thoroughbred), prices sit around £5,000 to £7,000 for high-quality young sport horses or cobs.

That’s interesting thanks. My good lady owned a livery yard on Mersea Island,so we love horses. Her last horse before they sold up was massive and scared the crap out of me when I was on it,it was like sitting on top of a bus. We still have a walking cane that has a horse measuring rod built inside the cane. [Post edited 16 May 7:25]

Put one of those bad boys up front and we should be ok from free kicks and corners - unless Neddy has a bit of a mare.

‘Potentially permanently’ might have been a better way of expressing it. I thought it an interesting read and the numbers difference between the Premier League and EPL never ceases to amaze and appall me. Logic says the gap between the haves and have nots has to grow. Not a good thing.

The colour of a Suffolk Punch is always " Chesnut " ..... never " Chestnut " The article paints a picture of a totally focussed board and CEO honing in on its targets with laser like precision So how does Ashton's dalliance/flirtation with Farage fit into this?

Also no mention of Ed Sheerhan and his ginger...or is it auburn hair. Interesting note on slang for ginger hair that AI gave me ; Bluey: A quirky Australian nickname affectionately given to people with red hair.

| What price a Suffolk Punch… on 09:58 - May 16 with 582 views | Swansea_Blue | That’s an interesting read in terms of how marketeers see things. To me it’s a lot of words to say we’re embracing our history, have decided what we want to do and how we want to go about it, and it’s currently paying off. But then like any support function once you get people specialising in it they continually reinvent the wheel, which I suppose it to be expected because the industry has to justify its existence and the roles of the people in it. | |

its not so much the cost to buy them to begin with, as the ongoing costs to keep them. I thought they were very expensive, among the horsey set at least, to keep, which certainly hasnt aided their position on the endangered list in the least.

Sorry about that Benters. Didn’t think if I titled it ‘Verbose musings of a marketeering twonk’ anyone would read it. It is interesting to see how the financial balance has changed so quickly though
