Let’s get this straight. New players will not come in order of positional priority. We have seen the moans about links with one excellent Championship player who may, or may not, be a target. If the first signing is someone of his calibre I really hope we don’t get the “why are we signing another winger, we need a proven Premiership striker. We are doomed.” Let’s see where we are at the end of August.
I say this now so that, between us, we don’t need to repeat it on a daily basis throughout the summer. Or am I being too optimistic?

Perhaps too optimistic, I think if we wait until the end of August we may suffer the lack of a pre-season with the new signings. We certainly suffered that in the season just gone, although it came good a fortnight ago. But I am with you on the intent if not the timing, start grumbling at the end of July if the signings are meagre then, but that is ten weeks away.
I honestly don't see what issues people seem to have with some posters transfer thoughts
surely, if that's how you wish to spend the summer, that's fine, but don't you then just ignore threads if you are happy to wait until end of august to discuss what's happened.
The whole point of news is to generate discussion, TWTD especially requires people to want to discuss transfer links.
There's going to be people happy with any link, some want specific types of players, some will want a striker in the door before any others. But that's the nice side of a forum in that everyone is different and there a host of differing views.
That's true, as long as we have the core signings in place before the pre season starts, it doesn't matter about order. If we are still panicking after pre season, well the horrible " G " word crops up again. Barely got away with it in the Championship, most certainly won't in the PL.
Given that the weekly demand all season was that no passes are misplaced, every tackle is made, every shot goes in and that we win each game 60-0 with 100% possession, the chances of any prospective signing not being met with a ton of moaning by people who somehow still maintain that they support the team, is precisely zero

Social Media platforms and forums have created the idea that every thought must, or should be publicly broadcast to a global or local audience.
The issue is not that people have thoughts. Humans always have / will (we assume)!! It’s that they choose to air every impulse about towen here.
People are free to speak. Others are equally free to judge whether it was worth saying.
A considerable volume of what gets broadcast in the digital world would once have remained simply the thoughts of the beholder, as it still does in most analogue settings.
“Social Media” is the giveaway term. Humans adapt to their social environment, and these platforms seem to reward performance, outrage, immediacy, and over reflection.
The whole point of news is not to generate discussion, its to inform.
Freedom of expression protects our right to speak. It does not require every thought to become content.
This summer window is judged next May and beyond, same as last summers window looked poor at various stages but worked out in the end, not without its floors.
Each transfer will of course be debated on its merits and assumed value, fans never have all the information, Aug is a natural time to consider how things have shaped up but it is what KMck Coaches Players end up doing Aug-May that counts.
I expect that a lot of our business will be later in this window and we will still be scrapping around late into the window which automatically puts us on the back foot, but lets hope a relatively stable squad returns to build into final stage of window and the new season, and we do better in securing the right players this time around.

That first sentence nails it, there are many here who can't seem to grasp people have different thoughts. As you say just ignore them or maybe try and have a sensible debate.
FWIW I'd like a big name through the door early to make it easier to convince players to join.

I doubt have all our core singings in place before the start of the season, never mind start of training. We may get a few, but anything remotely ambitious or tricky could take a while to get sorted, established with it being WC year. Players involved in the WC will probably on leave until into August for a start and will be keeping options open until after the competition. Assuming we have some WC players targeted that is, which is likely given the number of teams involved.
We do need a good striker but if anyone thinks we will get a 20 goal forward it's just not going to happen, in the Premier and the Championship only three players scored 20 plus goals this season, football has changed so much in recent years.

How about two 10 goal ones? Anything on top a bonus!

... ELITE 20 goal forward is all that will be accepted. Nothing less.
