Which is the biggest waste of money?

Or, more generally, which use of money is more deranged - football or art?

Poll: Where will we finish this season?

Isak broke his leg in January so a tad harsh to judge him on value for this season.

As for Pollock - I don’t particularly understand his art but my ignorance is my issue. Maybe someone better informed will be able to say why his art is so valued.

I don't know what you mean, "waste of money".

If I had that sort of money going spare (spoiler, I don't) I would invest in the Pollock as a useful vehicle to store my wealth, and I'd also pop it up in my living room once I'd updated the burgler alarm.

I would not be that interested in buying Alexander Isak as I am not sure what I'd do with him to be honest, and I suspect his resale value will be less than the Pollock when I get to retirement age.

Pollocks will only go up in value

But are you assuming that Pollock’s art will stay in fashion and valued?

I’m absolutely no expert but there must be a chance that his art will devalue with time.

I mean, in what world is either worth £135m.

(This world, obviously - but I mean compared to how else that money could be spent.)

We have a little art in the house. Nothing of much value, but a few originals from unknown local artists.

At one stage we considered stretching ourselves and buying/investing in a painting from an artist we had heard of. Rolf Harris.

Very glad we didn’t.

Mate's sister married a multi-millionaire

He had a big swanky house and the walls were festooned in original priceless modern artworks

Every room was pitch black, the thick heavy curtains were always drawn and each picture had its own heavy fabric curtain over it..... all to sheild the art from light that might degrade the paint and therefore diminish the value of the pictures

My mate said it was weird, creepy and horrible.... he only visited the once

Imagine owning something so valuable that you couldn't even look at it

You would be better off with a repro of a Constable

A Cart in a Ditch

That's proper art

Well said, and I completely agree it would be better spent on 385,714,285 Freddos (with some change to spare!)

No. They fell significantly in price.

Despite his comical reputation built up from his tv work he was a serious artist. Prices obviously inflated by his fame

I doubt you'd be able to hang Isak on your wall either! Pollock is by far the best longer term investment. If you have pockets the size of Texas to start with!

There are justifiable reason for describing Pollock as a very significant figure. His work will stand scrutiny and be well regarded for centuries.
And there's football as well.
